Garrison Buildings

Garrison Buildings

Garrison Buildings:

Assuming you’ve unlocked your level 3 Garrison and completed the Achievement: More Work Orders, these are the Garrison buildings you want. The number in brackets is the level required for your building. The only exception is the Mines; If you want to farm ore and the Mine Carts, I suggest getting level 3. Alternatively, I ignore this.

Garrison Add-ons:

To maximize your time within your Garrison, it’s imperative to consider installing some Garrison Addons. If you have a lot of alts, this will speed up the process of obtaining missing Followers and assigning Followers to Missions at your Garrison Mission Table.

Garrisons in 2022

Garrisons in 2022:

If you thought Garrisons in 2022 were of no interest, or more importantly, too much work to maintain to make worthwhile, you’d be wrong! You can make some excellent passive gold income with a specific Garrison setup (which I’ll explain later in the post).

Umbral Ink Shuffle

Umbral Ink Shuffle:

It’s finally here, the Umbral Ink Shuffle. You’re probably wondering, what do you mean it’s here? In Shadowlands, the primary ink we can trade is Umbral Ink. We need the valuation of Umbral Ink to be low enough to make the shuffle worthwhile, and with Umbral Ink averaging 48g on E.U, that moment is finally here.

Mage Tower & Legion Timewalking

Legion Timewalking Event & Mage Tower Changes...

The Return of the Legion Timewalking Event:

Some of you may not be aware, but on the 12th of April for U.S. players (the 13th of April for E.U players), we’ll see the long-awaited return of the World Event: Legion Timewalking. This event was an extremely profitable market last time due to the re-emergence/release of the Mage Tower.

When the event opened for the first time, I managed to earn 10 million gold over the first seven days. Sadly, if you’ve frequently been monitoring Wowhead (or alternative websites), you’ll be aware that the Mage Tower has a significant change at the end of this month.

Shadowlands: Soul Dust Shuffle

Shadowlands: Soul Dust Shuffle

The Soul Dust Shuffle!

I don’t do many Shadowlands professions due to the need to babysit the Auction House. However, this shuffle is excellent for those like myself who don’t have time to babysit the Auction House for canceling and reposting undercut auctions.

The sheer demand for Soul Dust means it will sell.

How It Works:

If you have Enchanting at level 70 or above, you can participate in the Soul Dust shuffle. To take advantage of this shuffle, open your profession: Enchanting, and under the category Shatters, look for Eternal Crystal. To profit from this method, we’ll shatter Eternal Crystal’s into Sacred Shards, then shatter the Sacred Shards into Soul Dust.

Why Is This Shuffle Profitable?

If we invested 36g purchasing an Eternal Crystal, and you shattered it, you will obtain 3 Sacred Shards. The value of these shards would then be 12g each (36g/3=12g). Sadly, these wouldn’t be that profitable on my realm. However, if we were to shatter the 3 Sacred Shards too, we’d collect 9 Soul Dust, which would result in our Soul Dust valuing at 4g each (36g/9=4g).

The Soul Dust on my realm is worth 9g 33s. In the last 30 days, I’ve sold 46,769 Soul Dust at 9g 37s for a total of 438k. My original investment of 187k to purchase 5,196 Eternal Crystals means I’ve made a profit of approximately 251k.

Before You Get Started

Check The Undermine Journal for Eternal Crystal, Sacred Shard, and Soul Dust prices on your realm. As this is specific to your realm, I’d recommend ignoring median prices.

Gettings Started:

You can either disenchant items to obtain Eternal Crystals or visit your Auction House and purchase them. If you can sell Soul Dust for 9g each, don’t purchase Eternal Crystals above 54g; otherwise, you’ll start losing gold after the Auction House cut.

Remember, you get 9 Soul Dust per one shattered Eternal Crystal. If you multiply the value of Soul Dust (on your realm) by 9, this is the maximum value of an Eternal Crystal via Soul Dust.

Once you have your Eternal Crystals within your inventory, start shattering them into Sacred Shards. We will obtain 3 Sacred Shards for every Eternal Crystal shattered.

If there’s more value in Soul Dust than Sacred Shards, you will need to shatter the 3 Sacred Shards resulting in 9 Soul Dust.

Now What?

You can either post the Soul Dust on to the Auction House or, if you want to extend the profit margins further, craft profitable Enchants that rely on Soul Dust. Here’s a selection of Enchants I’ve found profitable.

Cloak Enchants:
Glove Enchant:

The Best Time To Post Your Auctions:

Currently, with patch 9.1.5 in full swing and many alts playing, it’s never been a better time to get Enchants/Enchanting materials on the Auction House. Players are still raiding, so prioritize your posting for reset days.

Solo Queue For Island Expeditions in 9.1?

Expedition Map

Solo Queue For Island Expeditions?

Blizzard is finally releasing their new patch, Shadowlands 9.1 – Chains of Domination, next week! Therefore, I thought it would be beneficial to quickly check out the PTR and see whether they’ve successfully incorporated the long-awaited solo queue for Island Expeditions.

According to Jeremy Feasel, he was hopeful that a solo queue for Island Expeditions could be incorporated in 9.1 but didn’t hold much hope for Warfronts.

Jeremy Feasel statement for Solo Queues for 9.1

What Are Island Expeditions:

For those unaware, Blizzard introduced Island Expeditions in Battle for Azeroth (BFA). Players could approach the Expedition Map and sign up to queue for four different difficulties, NormalHeroicMythic, and PvP.

You needed a team of three players to participate, and it had a simple objective, reach the azerite goal first, and you won! In addition, Blizzard introduced further incentives and tasks throughout the expansion of BFA and made it worthwhile for players to continue participating in Island Expeditions for Companion PetsMounts and Transmog.

Why The Need For A Solo Queue?

With the release of Shadowlands and the lure of new content, players that continued to queue for Island Expeditions found it difficult to get groups due to a lack of interest. Thankfully, early in Shadowlands, there was hope. Jeremy Feasel informed the World of Warcraft community that they were trying to incorporate a solo queue. The community had hoped that the improvement was ready for Shadowlands 9.1.

The 9.1 PTR:

I quickly copied over my main character onto the PTR and hurried over to the Port of Zandalar. I interacted with the Expedition Map. To my astonishment, there was no method to solo queue for an Island Expedition.

When I hovered over the four difficulties, the tooltips expressed the need for three players to participate in the Mythic and PvP queue. However, the tooltip for Normal and Heroic had no minimum player requirement. Furthermore, all four options needed me to select find crew, suggesting there’s no solo queue yet!

With 9.1 due to release on the 29th of June for NA (30th for EU), there’s no way they’re releasing the solo queue unless they plan to release something in the next few days. So that would suggest that there’s no testing expected before the release of 9.1.

If No Solo Queue In 9.1, When?

Suppose there’s no solo queue in 9.1. In that case, I can only assume that Blizzard maybe hit a snag while making alterations to Island Expeditions. However, if they plan to release this during Shadowlands, then perhaps it will come in 9.2. It’s worth remembering that Blizzard usually waits for two expansions before making previous content more accessible for soloing.

What Does This Mean For Gold-Making?

The inability to solo queue for Island Expeditions means that players will continue to struggle to queue. Therefore, the need for offloading Island Expedition Transmog (as warned in my previous post) may not be necessary now. Gold-makers were worried that with the ability to solo queue, the demand for Transmog would drop. At the same time, the supply would increase, meaning a loss in value. What will likely happen now is the opposite, more demand and a lack of supply, slowly increasing its value!

But stay vigilant; Blizzard has in the past made changes where necessary, without warning. So expect Island Expedition Transmog to hold its value for now, but adapt if there are any late changes.

Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender Transmog.

What is Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender Transmog?

If you played World of Warcraft during Mists of Pandaria (MoP), you would be familiar with this crafted gear from Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, and Tailoring. These items were called Crafted Malevolent, Crafted Dreadful, and Contender’s gear. During MoP, these crafts were very valuable, thanks to PvP content and their bonus sets. Even to this day, they still hold a reasonable valuation and offer me a steady income.

To view the Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender transmog via Wowhead. Click on the links provided to view their item sets.

How Do We Obtain These Recipes?

Leatherworking has the best return when operating in this market, as it crafts both Leather and Mail items. However, it comes at a price, as you’ll need to learn more recipes than the other two professions. The Malevolent and Dreadful recipes are locked behind a specific craft that has a daily cooldown; meaning you need to craft an epic material to discover a new recipe for your profession. Below is a summary of the crafts necessary for each profession.

Craft needed to discover a new Crafted Dreadful recipe. (Daily Cooldown)

Craft needed to discover a new Crafted Malevolent recipe. (Daily Cooldown)

Please don’t confuse Hardened Magnificent Hide, Balanced Trillium Ingot, and Celestial Cloth with Accelerated Hardened Magnificent Hide, Accelerated Balanced Trillium Ingot, and Accelerated Celestial Cloth. The accelerated versions have no cooldowns and don’t discover any new recipes.

Contender Recipes from Vendors

Each profession has its dedicated vendors that sell Contender’s recipe; this will cost you 1x Spirit of Harmony from the following vendors.

Leatherworking:

Blacksmithing:

Tailoring:

Crafting Your Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender Transmog!

Once you’ve learned your recipes, start crafting your gear. The materials needed to craft the items are straightforward and easy to acquire, either from farming or purchasing from the Auction House. I urge you to check TheUndermineJournal (TUJ); this will give you an idea of your materials and crafts’ value and ultimately help you decide whether it’s beneficial to farm or purchase your materials.

Material shopping list (RMA = Region Market Avg from TUJ)

Remember you can craft Magnificent Hide from 50x Exotic Leather, Ghost Iron Bar from 2x Ghost Iron Ore, and Bolt of Windwool Cloth from 5x Windwool Cloth; by crafting our own materials, we improve our profit margins. These crafts do not have a cooldown!

The Benefits of Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender Transmog:

What makes this gear valuable is the transmog aspect; they have some excellent skins. With the introduction of Shadowlands and the Relic of the Past, this gear can help players level efficiently. The relic can manipulate the item’s ilvl and level requirement, meaning this has some value for lower-level players. The bonus for equipping 2 or 4 pieces may be beneficial.

Previous Sales:

Update – The Mage Tower:

Following the release of the new World Event: Legion Timewalking and the reintroduction of the Mage Tower, Crafted Dreadful Gladiator’s gear is in high demand. When these items are applied with either a Relic IV or Relic V, they scale extremely well, due to the gem sockets and enchants that can be applied.

As with the increase in the value of these crafts, you’ll notice that the materials are in high demand too; and have tripled in value on some realms. If you’re able to farm materials during this event, I’d suggest checking out my new blog post, covering the materials needed during the World Event: Legion Timewalking and the Mage Tower.

Also, check out my other blog post for more information regarding other crafts that are selling during this event!

Medallion of the Legion

I’m sure many of you remember the awful start we experienced on the release of Warlords of Draenor (WoD) and the inability to access the Dark Portal, and, later on in the night, the inability to access the starter quest to build our Garrisons. Once the developers ironed out the issues, it quickly became apparent how essential Garrisons would be in WoD and the wealth of things it would offer, most notably, the Medallion of the Legion!

As the expansion progressed, it wasn’t too long before players were aware of the mission table’s potential, and before you knew it, they were min-maxing their followers and traits, taking full advantage of the encounters available to them. The gold missions were insane, and the mission table gave us an alternative method to obtain raid loot. Still, an excellent addition was a mission that gave us another option to acquire the Medallion of Legion.

What is a Medallion of the Legion:

The Medallion of the Legion is an item that can be purchased from other players, looted via rares or acquired by completing a specific mission at the mission table. Upon consuming this Medallion, you will receive 1000 reputation with the denizens of Draenor.

Important: If you own a level 3 Trading Post and you’re situated within Draenor, once you consume the Medallion, you will receive a 20% bonus (if the Darkmoon Faire is in town, get the Whee! buff for an additional 10% bonus). The Sign of Iron buff from WoD Timewalking which rewards 50% reputation gains does not affect the Medallion of the Legion.

The Denizens of Draenor:

Once you consume your Medallion of the Legion, you will receive 1000 reputation to all these factions also known as the Denizens of Draenor. [A] Alliance Faction – [H] Horde Faction.

Due to the removal of the battleground Ashran in 8.0, it is no longer possible to gain 1000 rep for Wrynn’s Vanguard and Vol’jin’s Spear when consuming a Medallion of the Legion. Source: WowheadSklixe

Ashran has since been reworked and released, but I’m unsure whether the limitations mentioned above are still an issue!

Why Should I Max My Denizens Reputations?

Locked behind the Denizens of Draenor are Companion Pets/Battle Pets, Followers, and Mounts. You will need Revered and Exalted to meet these requirements. An image below, outlining the reputation requirements to purchase items from the Council of Exarchs.

How to Obtain a Medallion of the Legion:

The Medallion of the Legion is a reward for killing and looting four rares within Tanaan Jungle; these rares had between an 18-19% chance to drop a Medallion. These rares were hugely popular due to players also farming Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment – you should only kill these rares once per day, per character; any more than once, and you’ll not receive any loot.

The Rares:

Here is a handy script that will inform you if you’ve already defeated the rare for today. Please enter it in the chatbox; it will inform you if you’ve conquered that rare for today. Source: Wowheadslybootz

/run for k,v in pairs({deathtalon=39287, terrorfist=39288, doomroller=39289, vengeance=39290}) do print(format("%s: %s", k, IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(v) and "\124cFFFF0000Completed\124r" or "\124cFF00FF00Not completed yet\124r")) end

Eldritch Horrors:

As WoD progressed, the developers added a mission table encounter called Eldritch Horrors in patch 6.2. Upon completing this encounter, it rewarded players with a Medallion of the Legion.

Buying and Selling Medallion of the Legion:

If you’ve maxed out your reputations with the denizens of Draenor and have no use for them, you can post them on the Auction House. During WoD, the average price was 15k per Medallion; as WoD came to an end and the release of Legion, the price skyrocketed to 30k. Sadly, as the expansions have come and gone, so has a lot of its value. But don’t let that put you off. You can still find Medallions for approximately 1-2k gold each and can flip these between 4-7k each (Region/Realm dependant)

The Undermine Journal (TUJ) Region Median Prices.

Recent Sale:

From my Tweet dated: 12/03/2021

Conclusion:

Although we’re in Shadowlands now, and WoD was almost seven years ago, don’t be fooled into thinking the Medallion of the Legion are of no interest anymore. I sell these regularly on the Auction House between 4-7k gold each. Players who have recently started/restarted playing World of Warcraft may try to catch up with their reputations or collect missing pets and mounts locked behind reputation requirements. The Medallions are a cheap and efficient method for players to catch up, and it’s this that gives them their current value.
