Undermine Exchange

Oribos Exchange

Undermine Exchange:

Welcome to today’s blog post, where I’ll update you on a new addition to The Undermine Journal and its potential successor, the Undermine Exchange.

If you have the Addon: The Undermine Journal (TUJ) installed, you must know that this is obsolete and will no longer receive updates. If you use this Addon in-game for pricing data, act now and uninstall it to limit any potential issues!

The Undermine Journal:

If you’re a frequent visitor to my blog, you’ll know that I regularly promote The Undermine Journal because of its excellent features that benefit me and other GoldMakers

Their website (which is still in operation) offers a lot of information and price data, meaning we can look closely at profitable items and, importantly, steer clear of items that have inflated in value due to naughty Goblins.

Region-Wide Commodities:

In patch 9.7 of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, Blizzard introduced the Region-Wide Commodities to the Auction House. The new improvement allowed players within a Region to buy commodities from different realms.

The improvement was to help crafters with the upcoming profession overhaul coming to World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. With Professions being important, Blizzard was aware of the new-found demand for materials.

However, since the update to commodities, it’s fair to say that the value of most Old World crafts has crashed, as materials are easier to come by. Check your Auction House, and you’ll see how dramatically the value of some crafts has fallen.

Sadly, these changes meant that The Undermine Journal could no longer support commodity price data. For a detailed explanation, check out Erorus’ post on Patreon!

Website – Undermine Exchange:

With the inability to track the values of commodities efficiently, Erorus (the developer of The Undermine Journal) has developed a new website called the Undermine Exchange.

While this is good for tracking prices for commodities, it also tracks prices for most items posted on the Auction House. What’s appealing is the website’s appearance; it’s very similar to the in-game default Auction House.

Ultimately, this means players frequently using the Auction House in-game can easily navigate around the website. If you’re a fan of the ‘Deals‘ search feature, you’ll be pleased to know it’s available here too!

Deals within a Realm:

As mentioned above, the Undermine Exchange can search for cheap items (Deals) in a specific realm within World of Warcraft. To use this feature, select your realm in the top left-hand corner. Besides the realm selection box, click on the clover.

Once the data loads, you’ll notice many items available for purchase that may return a profit once reposted; this is otherwise known as flipping. To give you a greater understanding of the potential profit, it’s worth including the Region Median Column. With Cross-Realm Trading possible, the Region’s Median Value may become important.

To add this column, select the Filter box (which is located beside the Search button) and tick the Add Region Median Column box. The next time you do a deal search, once the data has been collected, click on the Region Median Column header, and it will sort the items with the lowest percentage to the top; these items will likely return a profit!

I tend to ignore crafts and easy-to-acquire items, as experienced goblins can inflate these values. I’d always urge you to only buy items within markets you’re accustomed to. With the return of Scholomance, and Naxxaramas, the Transmog and once unobtainable Recipes are obtainable again!

If you’re unsure about an item, always resort to Wowhead. Alternatively, check out the Add-on: All the Things. Although this Add-on has a ton of information, it can give you details on the availability of an item (i.e. if it’s obtainable or not) via an items tooltip. For Transmog purposes, it also informs you if the item shares an appearance with another item.

Deals within a Category:

Lastly, you can also search for deals per category. After you’ve chosen your realm, select a category on the left-hand side (i.e. Recipes) and then select the clover, and this will search for cheap recipes. The recipes will automatically be sorted in the lowest percentage by Region Median.

Add-on – Oribos Exchange:

As I pointed out at the beginning of this post, the old Addon: The Undermine Journal (TUJ) will not receive any further updates and is marked as obsolete on Curse Forge.

If you use TUJ, immediately remove this Addon, and install the new Addon: Oribos Exchange.

The Addon offers the same information as TUJ but also includes commodities. You will see just one value for commodities, the median region value! The Addon will receive updates several times weekly; I’m guessing Wednesday and Saturday.

Add-on – Oribos Exchange New TSM Source:

If you used the Addon: TUJ in the past and, like myself, incorporated the source: tujglobalmedian within your TradeSkillMaster (TSM) price strings, these will now be invalid and will return errors.

This is why you must act immediately, as items that use this price string for your shopping/posting operations will fail to purchase/post any items.

I contacted Erorus this morning (13.01.23) as I was unsure of the new sources for the new Addon: Oribos Exchange, and thankfully, Gumdrops (TSM Support) got in touch. Entering /TSM Sources within the in-game chat box will prompt you to the new supported sources.

These are as follows.

  • OERealm (Oribos Exchange Realm Price)
  • OERegion (Oribos Exchange Region Price)

Supporting the Developer:

Again, I like to use my platform to help promote others, especially those who offer much of their time and know-how to make GoldMaking efficient. After all, without their Addons/Websites, things would be a lot harder.

With that said, if you’re in a financial position to support Erorus, please check out his Patreon. By contributing, you can help him continue developing the Addon/Website and show your appreciation for his hard work and commitment.

Alternatively, if you’re an AdBlocker user, consider white-listing his platforms, and the Ad revenue will hopefully contribute towards his future work.

UPDATE: Following a name change of the website, I’ve updated this blog post to reflect the changes. Oribos Exchange is now known as Undermine Exchange. All links have been updated. The Addon has kept the original name: Oribos Exchange! [09.08.23]
