Stinkrot Smasher
I’ve previously written about the Stinkrot Smasher, but its recent surge in sales suggests it’s worth highlighting again. For those unaware, Transmog changes are coming in The War Within, and players are searching for new gear with niche appearances.
What is a Stinkrot Smasher?
The Stinkrot Smasher is not just any one-handed mace; it’s a weapon that looks like a floppy fish and has a unique appearance in the game. As mentioned at the beginning of the article, this is a very niche appearance. I’m not a fan of the Stinkrot Smasher, but many players appreciate its distinctiveness!
Where can I find the Stinkrot Smasher?
The Stinkrot Smasher is a very low-chance reward for completing an Island Expedition. The Island Expeditions were a new feature of Battle for Azeroth, but they slowly dropped in popularity thanks to new content/expansions. However, thanks to solo-queing in Shadowlands for Island Expeditions, a small minority of players continue to play them today.
The reduction of participants and the decline in the supply of the Stinkrot Smasher‘s have likely increased their values due to the current demand and impending Transmog changes. Ultimately, this means that the Stinkrot Smasher is not just a unique appearance; it’s a valuable asset in the game.
Once you’ve completed an Island Expedition, you will receive rewards based on your performance, which (if you’re lucky) could include a Stinkrot Smasher. Your only alternative to obtain this weapon is via the Auction House!
Purchasing a Stinkrot Smasher from the Auction House!
Alternatively, you can purchase the Stinkrot Smasher from the Auction House. Now, the values of this item are far from their original estimation during the Battle for Azeroth. These were around 25-75k, depending on the realm you played on.
When the solo queue was available for Island Expeditions in Shadowlands, these jumped to between 150-200k each. Today, I was selling them for 250K, as shown below. But, on closer inspection (thanks to the Undermine Exchange), these demand a value of between 400-500k gold!
You’re probably thinking, “Grahran, you’ve lost a lot of potential gold from those sales!” arguably, yes! But my whole Stinkrot Smasher inventory was purchased on the back of Island Expeditions in Battle for Azeroth, meaning when I make a sale, I’m already making a 200k profit!
As of today, I will amend my TSM string to reflect the increased demand and valuation. If you’re selling these, you should review your values, too – unless you’re happy with your return on investment!
Recent Sales of Stinkrot Smasher:
I made some recent sales highlighting the increased demand or players looking to flip! For those unsure about flipping, it’s purchasing something you regard as underpriced to post at a greater value you believe befits its importance.

Other Island Expedition Transmog:
As a bonus for those who have stayed to read to the end, I’ve added a list of items from Island Expeditions with a high valuation at the Auction House. Be sure to check your alts if you have any of these items stuck away in their personal banks!
Check out the Undermine Exchange for realm/region values for these items! These have a median value of 100k gold and above! For clarification, these are values based on the E.U region. However, these could still be the same in the U.S. region!
