If you’re an avid Battle Pet player within World of Warcraft, you’ll be familiar with the Flawless Battle-Stone. Due to these stones being Bind on Equip, they’ve proven to be a valuable commodity to flip at the Auction House. I’ve recently shown my readers that you can make substantial profit margins from flipping Flawless Battle-Stones.
The long-awaited patch 9.1.5 is finally live and brings a wealth of improvements to World of Warcraft – Shadowlands. Notable changes; Legion Timewalking, improved scaling for soloing Legion content, quality of life improvements for alts in Shadowlands, and much more.
But, above all, the long-awaited introduction of the solo queue (Private Tour) for Island Expeditions is here!
Island Expeditions:
Since the Battle for Azeroth expansion ended, players have found it challenging to queue for Island Expeditions due to the minimum requirements. You needed three players to play this content, and due to the emergence of Shadowlands, no one was queuing due to the new content available.
However, developers had promised a solo queue (as early as Shadowlands 9.1) but found issues developing the changes. Thankfully, as of 9.1.5, these changes are in full effect.
Remember, there is a three-map cycle that changes every week. Each map has specific mobs, which in turn drop particular loot.
Why Do Players Want Island Expeditions?
Some players may not have played during Battle for Azeroth, or maybe didn’t have any interest at that time for Island Expeditions, and now they do and have realized how good they are.
There are a lot of items that players will be interested in – notably, Mounts, Companion Pets, and predominantly Transmog. Sadly, the Transmog available still relies heavily on the cycle of three maps available for that week.
Remember, if you collect Seafarer Dubloons, you can also purchase Salvage Crates; again, these crates will rely heavily on the three maps available for that given week, so spend those dubloons wisely!
Check out Wowhead’s excellent guide here for updates on Island Expedition rewards.
How To Solo Queue For An Expedition?
For Horde players, travel to the city of Dazar’alor within Zuldazar, and speak to Captain Rez’okun at the coordinates [44.95].
Alternatively, if you’re an Alliance player, travel to the city of Boralus within Tiragarde Sound and speak to Flynn Fairwind at the coordinates [66.33].
Select the appropriate Private Tour (solo queue) for your ability.
The Effect on GoldMakers Selling Transmog:
The new addition will undoubtedly harm the Island Expedition Transmog market. Due to the limitations to the queue, the gear was harder to obtain; supply was low, meaning players that stockpiled the Transmog could demand higher valuations for specific items. I outlined this in a previous blog post here.
Transmog will be easier to obtain with players able to solo queue, thus driving down the valuation and increasing the supply. As the quantities increase, as will the valuations continue to decrease.
The power of ‘supply and demand‘ the greater the demand that outweighs the supply, the higher the fee you can demand. When the supply outweighs the demand, the lack of value you’ll get for your piece(s).
Monitoring and Adapting to the Market:
Over the next few weeks, it’s essential to monitor and adapt as the market adjusts to the influx of Transmog. Using The Undermine Journal, we can use the data they offer and get a headstart on our competitors.
Below, I’ve chosen my trusted piece, the Stinkrot Smasher. The item has earned me a lot of gold, and you can see why. There are three pieces on my realm and a total of 122 currently within the E.U region. This piece demands between 100k to 250k each, as shown in previous sales reports.
However, these quantities will start increasing, so adjust your prices promptly, to stay ahead. If you don’t adapt quickly, you will be left behind with many items to sell, and it will only worsen – well, until the value has gone and the players farming find alternative markets.
Importantly, keep your eyes peeled on your realm’s pricing/quantity heat maps and the current regional Price graph. These graphs will show immediate changes that will assist you going forward!
Transmog – Items of Interest:
Here’s a reminder of some of the pieces that currently demand a lot of gold on the Auction House. This list will change, as mentioned above!

Finally, we’ve confirmation that as of patch 9.1.5, it will be possible to queue solo into Island Expeditions. Currently, as of today, you’d need to queue for Island Expeditions with two other players (a team of three) and queue up from the Expedition Table.
When patch 9.1.5 releases, those struggling to create groups, or finding players wanting to farm Island Expedition Transmog efficiently, can do so alone.
Blizzard’s blue post, confirming the addition in patch 9.1.5!
When Will Patch 9.1.5 Release:
There has been no date set for the release, but many people online feel it could be around October. So, maybe expect this to release in or around Hallow’s End, the World Event that starts on the 18th of October.
There’s no addition of the 9.1.5 patch on the Public Test Realm just yet, but keep your eyes peeled!
The Affect on GoldMakers:
With the announcement of players able to queue solo into Island Expeditions, be prepared for an influx of Transmog to reach your Auction House after the new patch hits.
Currently, demand for Island Expedition Transmog is pretty high, and with the low supply of Transmog on many realms, prices are obscene; this is excellent for Goblins.
Soon, the supply will increase with the new changes, forcing Goblins to reduce their valuations to guarantee that sale; this will ultimately benefit the customer.
Be sure to adjust promptly, to stay ahead of your competitors!
What Should I Do With My Stock:
If you’re like me and have set up an inventory full of Island Expedition Transmog to sell, and the news today concerns you, start offloading excess items in preparation for the new patch.
When the new patch comes and the Transmog supply increases, you could be stuck with stock; you can’t sell.
Before patch 9.1, I did advise Goblins to consider the size of their inventory, with the possibility of the solo queue coming in 9.1. As we know, the solo queue didn’t happen in patch 9.1, but, with any luck, some of you may have reduced your stock already, as I did!
High-Ticket Items:
If you’re somewhat unsure about reducing your inventory and confident that high-ticket items will hold their value, by all means, hold out.
I’ll add a list of items below that I regard as high-ticket Transmog.
Dragonriders Harness
Duskhaven Jacket
Duskhaven Top Hat
Firekin Amice
Firekin Robes
Helm of the Tranquil Paths
Leggings of the Tranquil Paths
Plundered Barbed-Edge Dagger
Plundered Biting Shot Longbow
Plundered Blade of the Northern Kings
Plundered Flamecaster Stave
Razorfin Breastplate
Razorfin Helm
Razorfin Shoulderguards
Stinkrot Smasher
Vest of the Tranquil Paths
Wild Marauder Chainmail
Wild Marauder Helm
Wild Marauder Pauldrons
Please be aware that this list is subjective, and you may consider items on this list differently. Adjust accordingly and follow your own instincts.
Things to Consider:
It’s worth noting at this point, that although the solo queue will be available in patch 9.1.5, there’s no other news regarding Island Expeditions at this point. Some things worth noting are Drop Rates, Seafarer’s Dubloons, and Salvage Crates. If there are adjustments to these, Transmog may be difficult to obtain again.
Drop Rates:
At the end of your Island Expedition, you will receive loot based on your performance and objectives completed. There’s no information yet, to suggest whether Blizzard will adjust these drop rates on loot obtained. Sometimes, Blizzard will make adjustments on loot, when content is made easier to complete.
Seafarer’s Dubloons:
Seafarer’s Dubloons were added in Island Expeditions to offer players an alternative option to acquire loot, which they were unsuccessful to obtain at the end of their Island Expedition runs. Blizzard could adjust the amount of Dubloons obtained and make it slower to purchase Salvage Crates, etc.
Salvage Crates:
Based on the maps available on that given week, players could spend Dubloons on Salvage Crates. The Salvage Crates would dictate specific loot within. Again, if Blizzard were to adjust the loot tables, drop chance, or the amount of Dubloons needed, this could have a negative effect on Transmog acquired.
An Excellent Guide:
If you’d like a guide, showing the rewards obtained from completing Island Expeditions, then please consider checking this one out from Sanghelios. They give a lot of information on the Salvage Crates and maps needed to obtain specific items. Check it out, and be sure to offer any feedback.
Conclusion:
Many of the comment sections on Wowhead and Facebook already show how happy players are with this news. With players able to efficiently solo queue to farm Island Expeditions, Transmog, which had dwindled in supply, will drastically increase come patch 9.1.5!
It’s imperative that if you don’t want to be lumbered with an inventory full of Island Expedition Transmog, that you consider offloading now. I’ve been doing so since patch 9.1, since Blizzard’s first hint at a solo queue change!
Be sure to check your TSM groups and your operations. In the coming weeks, you will notice changes in the prices as players look to offload their stock!
Please also monitor the potential of any changes mentioned in the Things to Consider segment of this blog. If there are any changes here that could affect drop rates etc, this could have an effect on future Transmog obtained.

Well, it appears there’s been another nerf and sorry to be the barer of more bad news. On this occasion, it involves our Tailor’s and the Bracer Shuffle. I had the difficult task to craft almost five thousand Tidespray Linen Bracers yesterday, in a bid to scrap them to increase my inventory of Expulsom. Sadly, the Bracer Shuffle which was kindly created and shared to the gold-making community by Samadan will now drastically need updating. Not heard of the Bracer Shuffle before, then check out Samadan’svideo and spreadsheet.
Previously to the Shadowlands pre-patch, when you crafted Tidespray Linen Bracers, you had the chance to craft the Rare version, which you’d send to your Enchanter to disenchant. With the Iwen’s Enchanting Rod, it would boost the number of materials gained when disenchanting. This would ultimately offset a lot of the cost of scrapping Bracers for Expulsom and make it a lot more profitable to craft Enchants and Uncanny gear. However, after my efforts yesterday, I found I got no Rare Bracer crafts whatsoever. What I also noticed, when scrapping the Uncommon Bracers, there was an increase in other materials, most notably Deep Sea Satin and Embroidered Deep Sea Satin. I’ve added below the average returns per Bracer scrapped.
Now the knock-on effect of no Rare bracers to disenchant, will come at the price of Umbra Shards. At the moment, the quantities have already started to drop on many E.U Realms and the price of the Shards, drastically raising as players become aware of the demand outweighing the supply. Now it doesn’t just end there, with the increase to the prices of the enchanting materials will also mean there will be a drastic rise of Battle for AzerothEnchants. So my warning to you today is, either start stocking up on the Umbral Shards for crafting or flipping, or find alternative means to generate the shards from alternative disenchants. It’s importantly to remind you to adjust the prices of your Enchants to reflect the new changes.
As it’s pre-patch and there’s hotfixes left, right and centre and undoubtedly changes on BETA, and the PTR to come, always remember this could change at any time! Don’t stock up on too much, only risk what you can afford to risk. I’m sure like myself, that the nerf to the Relics is still at the forefront of our minds and how quick developers can change things in an instance. It’s always important to adapt as the market changes. Adapting as quick as possible, separates us from our competition and that’s where we want to be if we want to be a successful gold-maker.
Have players on your realm already noticed the new changes and the shard prices starting to inflate? Having a lot of success, profiting from the bracer changes? share your experiences below in the comment section.

Today’s blog post is concerning Transmog from Island Expeditions. Since the release of patch 8.3 I have been regularly buying up cheap Transmog from the Auction House and successfully flipping them for profit. Today I will inform you how you can either earn these running Expeditions or buying them off the Auction House; for flipping now or in preparation for Shadowlands.
This post is written to help those unaware of this market, maybe dipping their toes in to something new. However, if you feel this may help someone, or offer some different information than highlighted before, please feel free to share.
What’s the Benefit?
At the moment, the Auction Houses are saturated by Transmog from Island Expeditions. The Expeditions are a great way to level, and some of the rewards are extremely good, ranging from Transmog, Mounts and Battle Pets. With the lack of content, people are farming; thus, a lot of these items are on the Auction House cheap waiting for players like us to soak them up.
We should buy these up, so when Shadowlands is upon us, and people are enjoying the new content, the supply will drop, increasing the value of the Transmog. As with most things in life, the best items will always demand a higher price, so keep your eyes peeled. I will add later some of the items that I believe are of interest.
Always remember, Transmog is a very fickle market; an item might look nice to you, but may look entirely different to someone else and vice versa. So always take care when purchasing Transmog.
What is Island Expedition Transmog.
The Transmog from Island Expeditions is armor of ilvl 310 or weapons (Plundered) at ilvl 325. These have recolor skins of previous raid/ expansion content.
Most people use Island Expeditions to power-level characters/alts, complete their weekly objective or farm for Transmog, Mounts or Battle Pets. At the end of each run, you will receive loot and Seafarer’s Dubloon based on objectives completed and how successful you were. If you didn’t earn any Transmog on your run, don’t worry, you can purchase salvage with Seafarer’s Dubloon from your factions vendor. They’re situated by the Expedition Table.
These vendors sell a salvage crate from between 50 to 175 Seafarer’s Dubloon. The crates change on a weekly cycle dependant on the current maps. You also have the chance to receive Mounts and Battle Pets, so if you’re farming for these too, this is a great way to obtain them. Click on one of the vendors above, to check the crates available as each crate has different/specific items.
As the Transmog is bind on equip (BoE) we can purchase them off the Auction House if we deem them cheap enough. Remember, the gear is currently saturated on the Auction House, so prices of some items are extremely low. When the demand and the supply change in Shadowlands, so will the prices. Be prepared when the prices change, to make the most amount of profit, adapting is key!
Make sure you consider the size and economy of your realm. Check out The Undermine Journal and see how much 310 and 325 items are. Also, don’t post too many of any one item as the posting costs are extremely high!
I recommend grabbing yourself a few pieces of each, but only spend what you can afford to risk losing. After all, we’re gambling here, and you don’t make large amounts of profit, without taking a calculated risk.
Items of interest
Duskhaven Top Hat Flamecaster Stave Stinkrot Smasher Firekin Items* Beacon-light Bulwark Bear-Carved Fists Tranquil Path items* Razorfin Items* Blade of Northern Kings
(*Helm/Shoulder/Chest items demand a higher value) Bracers will be the lowest.
I can understand that some of you reading this blog post may seem very sceptical of all this. But to provide some reassurances, I’ve added some screenshots below, covering some of my sales. Bear in mind these sales are during Battle for Azeroth, and these prices will only increase once Shadowlands releases.
Have you been buying and selling Island Expedition Transmog? how’s your sales? Do you have a sufficient inventory ready for Shadowlands? Let me know how you’re getting on, in the comment section below.
As always, a shout-out to Wowhead for use of their database. All links directed to them. If you enjoyed this post, please share. Thanks for reading.
With a couple of weeks until the release of Shadowlands Pre-patch, I thought it would be a great time to quickly jump back on the crafting bandwagon and give you some tips for crafting Uncanny gear.
With the expansion almost at an end, don’t be put off thinking the Uncanny gear isn’t worthwhile anymore, as you’d be wrong! It’s still selling extremely well, and with a couple of things to consider (outlined below), we can profit from players quickly levelling alts ready for the pre-patch.
Important: Make sure you have rank 3 recipes learned.
It’s imperative that you have rank 3 on all the Uncanny recipes it prevents us from losing gold in the long run. It will also reduce the amount of Expulsom required to craft an item. Expulsom is a problematic material to acquire and is necessary for every Uncanny craft and the best way to gather this is following Samadan’s bracer shuffle method. Please follow his directions precisely. Once we’ve collected all our Expulsom from scrapping the bracers, we can start to craft our Uncanny items.
It’s best to craft every item, so be sure to craft as many of each as you can. I have a minimum of 10 of each item posted on the Auction House. The reason being is my TSM has Ignore Variation unticked. The benefit to this is that we make sure we get the best value for the items with the best stats. If we have Ignore Variation ticked TSM will post all of our gear on the Auction House below the cheapest item, regardless of its stats, and we stand to lose gold on our best items. So be sure to untick Ignore Variation for the best results!
It’s worth bearing in mind, that once Shadowlands has released and dependant on scaling (due to level squish), Uncanny Gear shouldn’t be important, other than for the benefit of Transmog and only then, would I consider ticking the Ignore Variation. Stats won’t matter if someone is purchasing your gear purely for Transmog purposes. Remember to adapt as the game transitions to stay one step ahead of your competition.
With the Auction House throttle activated when you cancel auctions to repost, I’d recommend posting your Uncanny Gear at 12-hour or 24-hour intervals. This gives you the freedom to post more often without getting throttled. Many of my competitors post at 48-hours, so as long as I log in when my items expire, I can repost successfully, keeping my auctions at the cheapest.
