Twink in MoP Remix!
Today, in what seems like a long sabbatical, I’m back with an exciting twist to leveling and playing within World of Warcraft’s new event: MoP Remix. For those puzzled, it’s leveling a character to level 20 to use it as a Twink and power through most content, including soloing Heroic Scenario/Dungeons!

What is MoP Remix:
MoP Remix is a new event allowing players to level characters within the expansion Mists of Pandaria. The event will last 95 days, ending on Friday, 19th August. Any characters played will transfer to the realm(s) selected when the event expires.
The event also allows players to earn many rewards from Cosmetics, Mounts, and Toys by acquiring a currency called Bronze. To purchase every reward, you will need to collect 1.6m Bronze!
What is a Twink?
A Twink is a character locked at a specific level that benefits from scaling and the powers obtained from their gear and enhancements. Although there’s no option to lock your character in MoP Remix, we can force this using a free-to-play account, which locks at level 20.
The Aim of the Game!
Using World of Warcraft’s free-to-play incentive, we can create an account restricting any character we level to level 20! Alternatively, you can use an account with an expired subscription. The critical aspect is ensuring you use an account on the same BNET. You can have a maximum of 8 accounts on one BNET.
Playing across multiple accounts on the same BNET ensures that any rewards and achievements we earn get shared across the BNET. Remember, as this is a trial, you are restricted from trading and using the mailbox, and due to the level restriction, you won’t be able to access Raids!

Why Twink?
Low-level characters are powerful, while newly leveled 70s are extremely weak, thanks to the scaling issues in MoP Remix. Level 10 characters are the sweet spot, but we cannot lock our characters at that level. With account-wide Rings, Trinkets, an Amulet, and the extra 15 Prismatic gem slots, we can use legendary gems to increase our character’s stats.
Ideally, you want to stack your stats on what’s best for your spec, and once you reach a point when you experience diminishing returns, start adding stats elsewhere; doing so ensures our Twink is at its strongest. When we have sufficient gear, Tinker/Prismatic Gems, we can solo Heroic Scenarios and Dungeons.
If you’re a multiboxer like myself, you can keep your alts at the instance entrance while your Twink levels your characters clearing the Scenario/Dungeon. Remember to loot all the corpses and collect that Bronze!
Getting Started:
To make your Twink the strongest it can be, ensure you have leveled a character to level 70 and have the achievement: Infinite Power XII! Having this achievement will give your alt a powerful cloak from the start! You will also need the following achievements.
- Timerunner – Timerunner’s Idol
- Escalation – Timerunner’s Beacon
- Heroic: Pandaria Scenarios – Timerunner’s Ring
- Heroic: Pandaria Dungeons – Timerunner’s Seal
- Pandaria Raids – Timerunner’s Amulet
These achievements allow you to purchase account-wide Rings, Trinkets, and an Amulet for 10 Bronze each for your alt! The character that earns the achievement(s) doesn’t need to purchase these items, as they’re automatically added to your inventory!
Selecting a Class/Spec:
Selecting your Class/Spec is the hardest decision; I ultimately went with a Brewmaster Monk. Preferably, you want a class that can either tank vast amounts of mobs, has sufficient self-healing, and can deal massive amounts of damage. However, there’s a lot of joy with Shadow Priests and Resto/Guardian Druids.
Arguably, you could play any class with the correct Tinker Gems and skill.
Look at my Monk; there is still some work to do, but it can quickly complete Heroic Scenario/Dungeons, power-leveling my alts!

Gearing your Twink!
Gear in MoP-Remix is easy to acquire. Keep your eyes peeled for Epic pieces with a low chance of dropping from all mobs. These will have bonus stats, including your primary stat for your spec.
However, thanks to the farming methods getting nerfed, acquiring Threads for your cloak may take some time! Threads are essential for your cloak as they increase its stats, unlocking its full potential. Thankfully, Blizzard introduced some buffs to Threads, which we obtain by completing Daily Quests, Achievements, and Orbs scattered around in the sky!
There’s also merit in killing Rares and World Bosses scattered around Pandaria. You may not get loot (due to level requirements), but you can acquire Bronze and Threads from the accompanying achievements.
Prismatic/Tinker Gems:
If you need help acquiring important Prismatic/Tinker Gems for your Twink, and you’re impatient (like me), there is a Gem Vendor, Lidamorrutu, at the Infinite Bazaar. Be warned, she offers a random gem that appears cheap but can quickly build up in value as you purchase more to find the gem(s) you want.
Remember, you can upgrade your Prismatic Gems by right-clicking them. You need 3 of the same gem. You can use this method up to Legendary. Legendary gems give you 4x the selected stat, with Stamina scaled to your character’s level!
Although you can’t trade between your Twink, you can trade between alts on the same BNET. So, if you no longer need Prismatic Gems or Scrolls, send them to your alts!
Power-Leveling Your Alt Army!
Some of you may not be as fortunate as me, whether restricted by time or money, and not have as many accounts, but there are still incentives for you if you have one account. If you’re running Heroic Scenario/Dungeons and parking your alt at the entrance, ensure you inform the rest of the party!
While the party will be thrilled that you’re rushing them through the instance, they may be disgruntled to see a player sitting back AFK. Creating a simple macro informing everyone that you’re boosting your alt, and they too can sit back, will prevent them from vote-kicking your alt.
Helpful Macro:
Use this macro before you start the instance.
/p Hello, I’m a level 20 Twink, boosting my alt >insert name<; they’re staying at the entrance, so feel free to sit back, too! Don’t forget to loot!
Multiboxing:
Multiboxing is still a viable option in World of Warcraft, and as long as you abide by Blizzard’s terms of service, it is safe to do. Remember, you can’t use any third-party software for Input Broadcasting. In Lehman’s terms, you can’t use a keystroke on one account, while third-party software instantly broadcasts that keystroke to another account.
Two programs can make your Multiboxing journey efficient; while I use JoeMultiboxer (paid service), a free service is available via WoWOpenBox. Both do not use Input Broadcasting and are safe to use. To reassure my readers, I only use JoeMultiboxer for their window layout feature. The feature displays all five of my characters separately on one screen!

There are a plethera of useful websites out there to make your life easier. None more so than Wowhead and Icy Veins. While both websites have detailed guides for your character in MoP Remix, Icy Veins has talent builds by level, ensuring you get the best talents for your Twink!

Conclusion:
Twinks in MoP Remix are fun and overpowered! More importantly, they can help increase your alt army so they’re ready for The War Within. Playing multiple characters at once makes collecting Bronze efficient. If my Twink earns 5k Bronze an hour (for example), multiboxing with four alts ensures it’s closer to a total of 25k an hour!
In the build-up to MoP Remix, we envisaged overpowered characters, which was shortlived, thanks to the scaling issues surrounding level 70 characters. However, Twinks have given us a new lease of life. But given Blizzard’s recent Nerf-Hammer, who knows how long this will last?
