Darkmoon Daggermaw in 2024
If you’ve not noticed, Darkmoon Daggermaw sales have significantly increased this week. From an average value of 6g, they quickly skyrocketed to 61g! Below, I’ll cover some reasons for the change in demand and things you should consider!
What is Darkmoon Daggermaw?
Darkmoon Daggermaw is a fish that can be caught within the Darkmoon Isles. The Darkmoon Faire is accessible on the first Sunday of each month for seven days, so farming them is limited and restricted by time and the availability of the event.
You can use the fish for cooking; however, it’s also a currency for purchasing Companion Pets, a mount, and cooking recipes. Notably, it’s a currency for buying a one-time quest per character. You can purchase these items from the vendor, Galissa Sundew.
The two recipes, Recipe: Extra Lemony Herb Fillet and Recipe: Lemon Herb Fillet, are very profitable. They can both sell for upwards of 2-4k gold each! They both cost 10 Darkmoon Daggermaw each!
Quest: Silas’ Secret Stash
Silas’ Secret Stash is a one-time quest per character, costing 100 Darkmoon Daggermaw. Once you purchase the Faded Treasure Map, you must solve several clues to access a treasure chest filled with 100 Darkmoon Prize Tickets.
For those familiar with the Darkmoon Faire, you will be aware of how vital these tickets are. They are a currency for purchasing Companion Pets, Mounts, and Replica Transmog, which can generate a lot of gold.

Increased Demand for Darkmoon Daggermaw?
You’re probably wondering why Darkmoon Daggermaw’s demand and valuation have suddenly increased. Later this month, we’ll see two transitions: the introduction of The War Within and the completion of MoP Remix. However, it’s MoP Remix that is of greater interest.
When all those new characters transition from the restricted Mists of Pandaria phase to the rest of the population, they will have access to the Darkmoon Faire (when it returns). If you’ve played MoP Remix, you know you can’t access the Darkmoon Faire.
However, on September 1st, MoP Remix players can access the Darkmoon Faire and complete the one-time quest Silas’ Secret Stash. In preparation for the increased demand, players have purchased as much Darkmoon Daggermaw as possible!
With such a vast increase in Darkmoon Prize Tickets, the value of Companion Pets and Replica Transmog could drastically change. There’s no need to make changes yet, but keep an eye out for them and adjust your valuations where necessary!

Farming Darkmoon Daggermaw:
If you want to profit from the increased demand, now is the optimal time to farm Darkmoon Daggermaw. Fishing is arguably the worst gathering profession, so only participate if you have patience. If done correctly, you can fish while AFK and carefully monitor the sound queues when you’ve successfully caught something!
Ideally, you will look for Shipwrecked Debris scattered around Darkmoon Island, giving you a greater return of Darkmoon Daggermaw. Please keep your eyes peeled for the Darkmoon Fishing Cap; you can use it once per hour to spawn Shipwreck Debris.
You will notice Sealed Crates and Bloated Thresher collecting within your bag; these will also contain Darkmoon Daggermaw!
Conclusion:
If you have Darkmoon Daggermaw stocked up, there’s value in holding out a little longer in preparation for September 1st (the next Darkmoon Faire). However, 64g is an excellent return on investment if you need gold, especially if you purchased a lot at the 6g mark!
If you have MoP Remix characters transitioning at the end of the month, it’s worth keeping a sufficient amount of Darkmoon Daggermaw for yourself. Ignoring this will ensure you have to purchase Daggermaw from those stockpiling them—which undoubtedly will be at a greater inflated value than today!
For those looking to stockpile, the safest opportunity has gone. While I hinted at a more excellent inflated value later this month, this is speculation. Investing 62g in a commodity with a historical value of 6g is a massive risk! You’re better off farming the fish instead.
