BoE Inscription Recipes

Buying and selling recipes for gold-making

Inscription Recipes:

Welcome to my comprehensive list ofย BoE Inscription Recipes. Theย Obtainable recipes are those that still drop from mobs, or a recipe via the creation of refreshment tables, for example, [Technique:ย  Glyph of Lavish Servings]. I collected this data usingย Wowhead.

Iโ€™ve sorted the lists alphabetically, and the drop rate added is the highest percentage available.ย However, itโ€™s essential to understand that the difficult to obtain recipesย shouldย hold the most significant value. Checkย The Undermine Journal (TUJ)ย for the recipeโ€™s valuation.

Iโ€™ve also added helpful links toย Wowheadย if youโ€™d wish to view the recipe(s) in greater detail.

Obtainable:

Iโ€™ve compiled a list ofย 7 BoE Inscription Recipes that are still obtainable in-game. Ignore theย Buyout Priceย in theย Quick Factsย box onย Wowhead, as these prices are incorrect. Instead, checkย The Undermine Journalย (TUJ)ย for a precise valuation.

Techniques via Crafting:

As mentioned above, one Technique is available from conjuring food tables as a Mage. Check out this comment from Nekyr, from Wowhead that explains in detail how to obtain this. Otherwise, check the Auction House.

Buying and Selling Your Recipes:

When valuing yourย BoE Inscription recipe(s), I advise you to useย The Undermine Journal (TUJ)ย and check the prices based on your realm. If youโ€™d prefer an average price based on the region, Iโ€™d recommend using theย EUย orย NA Median Price.

Pastebin:

I have taken the liberty of adding aย Pastebin, which holds aย TSM Groupย with theย BoE Inscription Recipes. Iโ€™ve separated the subgroups as outlined above, and where possible, categorized them by their drop chance. Please remember that I do not add operations to myย TSMย groups to prevent any potential issues; default operations will automatically be assigned once imported successfully.

Feel free to make any adjustments you wish, but please make sure you backup your profile before importing and making any changes.

Finally, I remind you that Iโ€™m currently restructuring my wholeย TSM Recipe Groupsย and plan to share this once completed.

BoE Cooking Recipes

Welcome to my comprehensive list ofย BoE Cooking Recipes. I have categorized the recipes into two categories,ย Obtainableย andย Unobtainable. The following recipe can be looted from a mob, but also purchased from an Alliance vendor. Check my Vendor TSM Group for this recipe.

Unobtainable:

There are 17 BoE Cooking Recipesย in this category, which Iโ€™ve separated into two parts.ย Purchaseย andย Donโ€™t Purchase. Unavailable recipes found in-game that have no source, or alternative method, should beย Purchased.

However, unavailable recipes that you can learn from aย Profession Trainerย or an alternative recipeย do not Purchaseย these from theย Auction House! These recipes have no value whatsoever! Smart Loot:

I’ve found 1 BoE Cooking Recipe in this category should be carefully considered before purchasing. This recipe has a greater drop rate than shown on Wowhead. This is because players that have theย Cooking Profession and donโ€™t currently have the recipe, have a greater chance of looting this recipe.

Buying and Selling Recipes

Buying and selling recipes for gold-making

Buying and Selling Recipes:

Buying and selling (Flipping) recipes is a lucrative market when gold-making, especially if you’re familiar with the best recipes to invest in. Sadly, if you’re new to this market it’s not straightforward, and you will need to do your homework. This post today will hopefully help explain some of the considerations you need to take before buying and selling recipes in World of Warcraft.

Changes to Unobtainable Classic Recipes in Shadowlands 9.1:

On June the 24th, Wowhead revealed that classic recipes that were unobtainable following the release of Cataclysm would once again be obtainable again in Shadowlands 9.1.ย

With Cataclysm Timewalking, players can purchase classic recipes once unobtainable via the Cataclysm Timewalking vendor, Kiatke. Unfortunately, there’s no information on how much these recipes will cost or whether they’ll remain BoE.

Following today’s news, if you’ve invested in the recipes below, consider offloading them immediately, as the valuation of these recipes will likely fall.

Please find below the recipes that are now obtainable.

Smart Loot:

Players unaware of the Smart Loot feature will automatically purchase the recipe from the Auction House because of the poor drop rate on Wowhead. But this is incorrect.

A recipe with the Smart Loot tag will have an increased drop rate for players with the profession and don’t already have the recipe. If you opt to farm these recipes, ignore the drop rates suggested on Wowhead. The drop rates don’t consider whether the player’s looting has the profession or recipe, hence the poor percentages.

Example: [Formula: Enchant Weapon – Blade Ward] is a Smart Loot item. The drop rate on Wowhead suggests this as a 0.5% drop chance, but this will be a lot higher if you have the Enchanting profession and don’t have the recipe.

For a comprehensive list of all the recipes with the Smart Loot tag.

Party Loot:

If an item drops with the Party Loot tag, each member of the party that needs one, will loot one.

Example: [Recipe: Heartsbane Hexwurst] Not only is this a smart loot item, but it’s a party loot item too. So if you have the Cooking profession and do not own this recipe and it drops, everyone that needs one will successfully loot one.

For a comprehensive list of all the recipes with the Party Loot tag.

Class Specific Recipes:

Although anyone can loot these recipes, you will need to be a specific class to learn the recipe. Take extra care if you consider flipping these recipes, as your potential buyers are limited to that class.

Example: [Schematic: Lightning Etched Specs] not only is this a zone drop (which I’ll explain later), but it’s a class-specific recipe; in this case, if you wish to learn this recipe, you must be a Shaman. Take extra care with recipes that drop within the raid, Sunwell Plateau.

For a comprehensive list of recipes restricted to a specific class, click here. Change the class in the filter to view recipes specific to another class.

Unavailable/Removed Recipes:

If you’ve played World of Warcraft for several years, you’ll know there have been many changes since Vanilla, none more so than Cataclysm (The Shattering). As a result, many items (including recipes) were deemed unavailable and were classed unobtainable due to the removal of their source.

If you’re fortunate to have one of these recipes, you can sell this to a collector via the Auction House. Fortunately, these recipes can demand a lot of gold. Although these recipes are no longer obtainable, Blizzard may have made them accessible via a Profession Trainer instead.

Example: [Recipe: Soothing Turtle Bisque] is a Cooking recipe that is no longer obtainable due to the removal of its source. However, this recipe is now available from the Cooking Trainer. Unfortunately, people still post these recipes to the Auction House, hoping for an unsuspecting buyer – don’t buy them!

Alternatively, [Recipe: Dirge’s Kickin’ Chimaerok Chops] is no longer obtainable and doesn’t have an alternative source. This recipe will sell exceptionally high on the Auction House purely for completionists.ย

Previously, this item demanded a high price on the Auction House because, at one point, it was one of the few recipes needed to learn 200 recipes for the achievement: Iron Chef. However, there are approximately 369 Cooking recipes in-game now, meaning it is now easier to earn this achievement.

Any recipes which have been removed and are no longer usable will be highlighted in grey. These items should be sold to a vendor as they’re regarded as trash.

Zone Drop Recipes:

Recipes with the Zone Drop tag are recipes obtained from a mob within a specific zone or instance. These items will have a low drop rate.

Example: [Pattern: Robe of Eternal Light] is a Zone Drop, specific to the zone (instance), Sunwell Plateau. So if we’re farming this recipe, we know that we need to farm mobs within Sunwell Plateau. Check Wowhead for the best mobs that drop your desired recipe.

World Drop Recipes:

These recipes are complicated to farm due to their extremely low drop rates. Therefore, it’s advisable to purchase these recipes from the Auction House and recoup the gold from alternative farming methods.ย

World Drop recipes will drop from any mob within a specific continent or zone that matches the level requirement.

Example: [Plans: Gauntlets of the Iron Tower] is a TBC World Drop (Level 30-50). By killing Level 30-50 mobs within TBC content you will have a very small chance to drop this recipe. This item is worth approximately 123k, but this could be a lot lower or higher depending on your realm’s population.

Recipes Rewarded From Quests:

There’s a lot of value in buying and selling recipes that are rewarded from quests. In addition, some of these quests are limited by Faction, meaning they can be very profitable to the opposing Faction. But, these are also of interest to players who don’t wish to complete quest lines and prefer to buy them.

Example: [Recipe: Roasted Moongraze Tenderloin] is a reward from the Great Moongraze Hunt quest. This quest can only be completed by Alliance players but can be placed on the Auction House for Horde players to purchase and learn.

For a comprehensive list of all the recipes available from Quests.

Vendor Recipes:

You’d automatically assume that there’s no market for Vendor Recipes, and you’d be incorrect. Instead, the lazy players in World of Warcraft make this a viable market to operate in. Ideally, the vendors furthest from flight points or ease of access will hold recipes with the best value.

Vendors with Limited Quantity recipes will also hold great value. Once the last recipe is purchased, there will be a random cooldown before the recipe is available again. Many players will not want to wait and will prefer to check the Auction House and purchase it instead.

For a comprehensive list of recipes sold by vendors, which can be reposted to the Auction House click here.

Blog Posts:

What Is My Recipe Worth?

First off, as good as Wowhead is, regarding item information within World of Warcraft, it fails with an item’s Buyout Price. I’m sure you’ve seen it, in the quick facts? I have no idea where they get this information from, but it’s incorrect, by a large margin too.

Example: [Plans: Sageblade] is a World Drop, and according to Wowhead’s buyout price, the recipe has a buyout of 1,4m gold.ย

For this reason, when buying and selling recipes, I’d urge you to use our trusted friend, The Undermine Journal (TUJ). The EU Median Price (average region price) for this recipe is 79k. Remember, lower populated realms will demand a higher value, and vice versa for higher populated realms.ย

You can use TUJ to evaluate any recipe you consider buying or selling. Remember, the value on TUJ is only a guide; you will need to use that guide and assume a fair price. Posting your recipes at the right price will return a profit and guarantee that sale; ignoring this could result in a loss or an unsold item.

Recipes By Profession:

Future posts, that detail all the BoE recipes by profession. Check back for updates.

Pastebin:

A collection of updated TSM groups. Please remember that I do not add operations to myย TSM groups to prevent any potential issues; default operations are automatically assigned once imported successfully.

Feel free to make any adjustments you wish, but please make sure you backup your profile before importing and making any changes.

If you’d prefer a complete all-in-one TSM group, with all the groups above in one group, opt for this string instead.

Fortnightly Gold-Making Sales Report 18.05.21

Fortnightly Sales Report

Welcome to my fortnightly gold-making sales report for the fortnight ending 18th May. It’s been a fantastic fortnight of sales. I managed to post auctions on some characters during the weekend, which I feel rewarded me with increased sales in specific markets. I also finally deactivated three of my account, which I no longer use. Promptly completing character transfer last fortnight, meant today’s sales report is on time!

Sales Report:

I amassed 6.7m gold in sales during this fortnight, and I continued with my philosophy of investing my gold by spending 6.4m gold, this resulting in a small profit of 272k. In addition, I made some fantastic sales with Medallion of the Legion, Stinkrot Smasher, Teebu’s Scorching Straight Sword, and a recipe Plans: Gauntlets of the Iron Tower.

TSM Ledger:

Here’s a copy of my 14-day revenue sheet from TSM Ledger via the TradeSkillMaster Website.

TSM Ledger for 18.05.21

My Highlighted Sales:

Island Expedition Transmog:

Arguably my best return in this market to date. I sold 2 Stinkrot Smasher’s for a total of 318k, a Firekin Amice for 95k, and a Razorfin Helm for 95k too. For a complete look at my Island Expedition Transmog sales, check out my screenshot below.

Island Expedition Transmog sales 18.05.21

Legion BoEs:

An excellent fortnight for Legion BoEs, I sold a couple of Anthrog’s Detthamma’s, which is a highlight. Unfortunately, these weapons have been slow to sell in the past. They’re lovely transmog items, but with the correct stats, they make a decent stat-stick too.

Legion BoE sales 18.05.21

Crafted Uncanny & Dreadful Gear:

It pains me to say it (but no doubt a repercussion of my inability to post as often as I like), but it’s another weak return on the number of items sold. However, selling two Uncanny Combatant’s Deckpounder’s for 23k and 28k is an insane return. Just a shame I can’t post more often!

Uncanny Sales 18.05.21

Recipes:

No doubt the highlight is the Plans: Gauntlets of the Iron Tower for 98k. I’ve been relatively slack investing in this market; with proof that this market is still worthwhile, it’s worth investing in cheap recipes again.

Recipe sales 18.05.21

Replica Transmog:

Only five sales this time around. However, making 356k on five items that cost me a total of 20k is an insane return on investment. Don’t ignore those Darkmoon Artifacts! They’re slowly increasing in value as players realize how important they are for earning Replica Transmog. Check out my Darkmoon Faire guide to get started!

Replica Transmog sales 18.05.21

Battle Pets:

I sold a lot more Battle Pets this fortnight compared to the last one. I sold a Naxxy, a couple of Darkmoon Rabbit’s, and a Feline Familiar. The highlight, without a doubt, went to the Searing Scorchling for 95k. Have I said already how much I love this market?!

Battle Pet sales 18.05.21

Selected Sales:

If you read my blog post last week regarding Huge Ogre Cache, you’ll know how profitable this niche market is. The benefit is, flipping level 10 items, which will be of interest to new players starting their Garrisons.

This fortnight also saw another triumphant return on Medallion of the Legion, Darkmoon Daggermaw, Roseate Pigment, and Nomi Snacks sales. Also worth highlighting the MoP materials that still sell extremely well. Ghost Iron Bar, Golden Lotus.

Lastly, I wanted to finish on two remarkable sales, Teebu’s Scorching Straight Sword for 142k and a Dark Herring for 134k, showing that there’s still hope for me selling transmog, even if it does take ages!

A selection of sales 18.05.21

Conclusion:

On the whole, it’s been an incredible fortnight worth of sales. But, sadly, it still doesn’t stop the, what if’s in the back of my mind. What if I could post on Weekends more regularly. What if I had more time to post regularly. What if I could cancel and repost my undercut auctions.

Missing out on posting during the weekend, when traffic in World of Warcraft is at its highest, and not being able to cancel and repost undercut auctions will always cause me to miss out on potential sales. However, where I miss out is where you can prosper. So make the best of what time you have; that’s all I can do, and that all you can do!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s sales report. If a market that I’ve covered above is of interest to you, please check the links I’ve added where applicable. Unfortunately, I don’t currently have guides on every market I operate in, but I hope to release more content shortly.

If you have any questions or want to share your sales, please comment in the comment section below!

Take care, and thanks for reading!

Fortnightly Gold-Making Sales

Fortnightly Sales Report – 13th March

This fortnightly reset has been very busy on the gold-making front, hence the sales report’s slight delay. With the Darkmoon Faire, Outland Timewalking, and Noblegarden, there have been many opportunities to invest my gold in many different markets.

I created a post regarding the event, Noblegarden, and the brief collapse of the Swift Springstriders, which came to fruition on most of my realms. I purchased some mounts where the value dictated. Hopefully, you got in on the act too. Remember, you want to start posting these in a couple of weeks/months when the market stabilizes. The event introduced more mounts meaning the supply significantly outnumbered the demand, driving the mounts valuation down. The valuation will return to normal once the supply falls in line with the demand.

For clarification as to why I only post fortnightly, please check this article for further information.

TSM Ledger For 30th April to 13th March:

Fortnightly Gold-Making Sales Data via TSMLedger

As expected, I’ve made a loss this fortnight due to purchasing cheap mounts and other bargains within other markets. I made 4,3m gold in sales, notably flipping, Exotic Leather, a Pattern: Shifting Cloak, 61x Medallion of the Legion, and a selection of mounts. I’ve added screenshots below outlining a selection of my sales, categorized where possible.

I spent just over 4,3m gold, investing in 204x Medallion of the Legion, Battle Pets, Legion BoEs, Island Expedition Transmog, Raw Materials, and of course, Swift Springstriders. There were a lot more purchases, but these were the primary investments.

My Sales:

Island Expedition Transmog:

Fortnightly Island Expedition Transmog Sales

This fortnight proved to be another great result on the Island Expedition Transmog front. Investing in late BFA on the Stinkrot Smasher’s is proving to be rewarding. I was buying these for between 15-35k before the release of Shadowlands.

Legion BoEs:

Fortnightly Legion BoEs sales

I remember in Legion when you couldn’t sell Cyno’s Mantle of Sin for love, nor money, and now they’re flying off the shelves – well, this fortnight anyway. Another good fortnight of Legion BoEs sales!

Crafted Uncanny & Dreadful Gear:

I won’t lie; I was disappointed in this fortnight sales return, and rightfully so. It’s hard to gauge why, but it could be the lure of other content; if it is the case, there should be an improvement next fortnight. If not, there could be competition undercutting me, preventing sales.

Recipes:

Fortnightly Recipe Sales

There was a standout sale this fortnight, the sale of the Pattern: Shifting Cloak for 300k. There were some more minor sales, showing that there’s still value in operating in this market.

Replica Transmog:

Fortnightly Replica Transmog Sales

If you saw my tweet on Twitter during the week, you’d have seen the mailbox I opened with a substantial amount of Replica Transmog sold on one realm. Believe it or not, but you can get many sales towards the end of the Darkmoon Faire as players check the Auction House for missing items to complete their set.

At the time of posting this article (15/04/21), I had 1,144 visitors this month, of which 172 visitors read my article on Replica Transmog. To explain the significance of this number and how popular this market has become, I had 2,873 visitors last month, of which only 10 visitors read my Replica Transmog article. As this market increases in popularity so will competition, looking for that sale, be sure to adjust your valuations accordingly.

Battle Pets:

Fortnightly Battle Pet Sales

It’s been a while since I’ve seen this many Battle Pet sales. Remember, these are just the best sales. The image(s) would have been too large had I added them all.

Selected Sales:

Fortnightly Selected Sales

I managed to sell a considerable amount of Exotic Leather, Golden Lotus, and Spirit of Harmony. I took advantage of these materials when developers nerfed The Golden Stair farm in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. As players slowly move away from the content from the final patch of BFA, the amount of materials gathered from Pandaria slowly falls, and the demand increases, increasing their valuations. The sales above illustrate the rise in MoP raw materials demand and valuation.

It was also another good fortnight selling 61x Medallion of the Legion for 255k. I also sold a Teebu’s Scorching Straight Sword, many mounts, including Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger, Goldenmaine’s Reins, and a Tome of Polymorph: Polar Bear.

If you’ve read this sales report today and some categories have sparked some interest, be sure to check out the links to be directed to my guides. I post auctions once a fortnight and don’t cancel or repost, so if I can make these sales over a fortnight, imagine what you can achieve if you have more time to post regularly or cancel and repost.

For more information as to why I only post once a fortnight, check this article.

If you have any questions, feel free to drop them below in the comment section. As ever, if you enjoyed this post or any other article I’ve created, please consider liking and sharing.

WoW Gold-Making: Fortnightly Sales 14.03.21

Fortnightly Gold-Making Sales

The best part ofย gold-makingย inย World of Warcraftย is when you access your mailbox, and you have a vast amount of gold to collect from the sales you’ve made. To increase the number of sales you can make, simply follow some of my suggestions below.

While it’s imperative to be the cheapest auction on the Auction House to guarantee sales, (i.e. cancel scanning and reposting) it also helps to have a wide range of auctions on the Auction House. I’m sure you’ve heard of Joe Bloggs; he solely operates in the Transmog market but he often complains that he doesn’t get many sales. However, I also work in the Transmog market, but I also complement it with other markets, Battle Pets, Raw Materials, Recipes, etc. Diversifying your auctions through different markets will help you engage with more potential customers, thus increasing your sales per reset. Operating within many markets will have its drawbacks, more significantly, the increased posting time needed to post all your auctions to the Auction House.

Here are my previous fortnightly reset sales for 28.02.2114.03.21. Please check out my Posting Routine for a detailed explanation as to why I only post fortnightly.

Gold-Making Sales – Selected Sales of Interest

The gold-making total for this fortnight was 4,9m gold, I sold 25083 items. I continued investing, where the market allowed me, and purchased 268593 items, spending 5,3m gold. This equates to a 384k gold loss. If you have the gold it’s important to continue investing and building your inventory. Remember what I explained above about diversity and operating in many different markets to maximise your sales – this is also a solid basis for trading outside of gold-making in World of Warcraft.

These stats were collected and calculated using the TSM Ledger.

New Markets

Good afternoon guys, as you’ll likely know by now, I have recently transferred realms, from a medium/low populated server to a very high populated server. As I look to get comfortable with my new server and it’s auction house, I find myself appreciating a lot more markets. Low populated servers are difficult to work within, due to the amount of customers at your disposal making it difficult to compete with other goblins. Obviously, a higher populated server offers a greater amount of customers, meaning that there’s a lot more people to cater for. Yes, other Goblins will still be competing with you for that sale, but the demand for items is that high, that everyone can get a stake of the profits available.

In the past, Ive unsuccessfuly tried to get into markets that I felt would be very profitable, but due to the lack of players, it just hasnt worked out. Now I’m on a busy server, I’m finding myself getting back into these markets and making some very nice profit. It’s important to remember what sort of server you’re on too. I have left a PvE server and have joined a PvP server, meaning that the opportunities are a lot more greater to me. PvP servers, offer a lot more players that enjoy PvP and are casual raiders, whereas PvE normally cater for Raiding and some casual PvPers, however, Ive been very fortunate to find a server that caters for alot of PvP players and alot of very good Raiding Guilds.

The main market Ive found appealing so far, is dealing in recipes. Ive been fortunate to come across some cheap rare recipes that are no longer available and made some great profit. But most of my dealings are flipping recipes and selling at a higher price. In the near future, I plan to start farming old content again, with the aim of picking up recipes of my own and selling them for greater profit margins.

Something you may find appealing, is the incentive of selling recipes and items from a vendor onto the auction house. I used to do this back in WotLK when I first started out in World of Warcraft. I used to make my fellow Guildies laugh, when I’d explain to them, that I’d casually stroll into the vendor, beside the auction house in Orgrimmar (before the changes in Cataclysm), buy up a lot of Flagon of Dwarven Mead, Ice Cold Milk, you name it, if it was common, I bought it. Buying something that costs 10s and reselling for anywhere above 100g was always going to get me a lot of attention. Sadly, before long, many of my Guildies were getting involved and reaping the rewards. You can still do this now, but until I moved realms, it wasnt very profitable, but… it is now!

I have a Recipe import list for TSM3 if you’re interested in getting into the recipe market too. I have seperated the groups into, Vendor, Non Vendor and Recipes Not Available Any Longer. It’s down to you to calculate the prices though, as prices vary from realm to realm. Alway remember The Undermine Journal is a fantastic source of information. I always use it as a guide and find a fair price for the time I invest and to what value I perceive the item to be.

There are a lot more markets I’ve found myself dealing in and sure there will be more in the future. If you’re looking for new markets too, trial and error is your friend. Sooner or later you will find one, like I have and will reap the rewards. Always worth remembering, that not everything is posted on the auction house, so there’s always gaps in the market.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it’s given you something to consider. Good luck!
