How to: MoP Remix

MoP Remix

With Dragonflight slowly ending, like-minded players search for alternative activities in World of Warcraft; thankfully, MoP Remix answers our prayers. The lull period of an expansion is usually the period I look to farm/stockpile in preparation for the new expansion. However, MoP Remix has broadened our horizons with a plethora of content to keep us busy.

Continue reading to see what MoP Remix offers and why you should join in!

What is MoP Remix?

MoP Remix is a limited-time event that allows players to revisit content from Mists of Pandaria. Like Timewalking, everything is scaled to your level, promising a thrilling challenge that varies depending on your level and item level. There are achievements, collectibles, and an excellent method to level new alts ready for The War Within.

In the lead-up to the event, Blizzard initially touted the Infinite Cloak as a fun and powerful item, ideal for leveling new characters and giving us overpowered level 70s. However, upon closer inspection, the Infinite Cloak is less rewarding than initially revealed, and you’d need to spend over a million Bronze to reach an average ilvl 476 to feel overpowered at level 70!

Don’t be disheartened; this is still an excellent opportunity if you missed Mists of Pandaria the first time! And, with level 70s reaching ilvl 476 or creating a level 20 Twink, you’ll see how overpowering the content can be, thanks to Blizzard’s inept scaling.

When Does MoP Remix End?

The event will span 95 days, providing ample time for players to fully immerse themselves in MoP Remix. The event will conclude on different days depending on your region.

  • N.A. 19th August at 16:00 (PT)
  • E.U. 20th August at 01:00 (CEST)

Bronze & Threads:

The most crucial currency in MoP Remix is Bronze. Whether you’re purchasing Cosmetics, Mounts, Toys, or upgrades, you will need a lot of Bronze. You can acquire Bronze from looting mobs, completing activities/dailies, and earning achievements.

There are also three opportunities to acquire Bronze via Momentus within any Infinite Bazaar. Blizzard implemented a hotfix that gave players Bronze who didn’t take advantage of the Timeless Isle frog farm. At levels 50, 60, and 70, you can receive 3k, 7k, and 30k Bronze, respectively.

To collect stats for your Infinite Cloak (thus making your character stronger), you must acquire Threads. Threads give you a certain amount of stats depending on the quality of the thread and your level; there are 4 in total.

Level 20 Twinks:

I have already created an article on this topic; click here for more information. While Priests were the best level 20 Twink, Blizzard’s recent hotfix to healer’s threat has diminished it. I’d recommend a Brewmaster Monk instead!

I have a level 20 Brewmaster Monk, and while I’m not the most skilled player, it’s enjoyable and easy to play! With Heroic Leap, it’s very mobile! With Touch of Death, you can make some encounters very short, not to mention the ease of defeating packs of mobs with Spinning Crane Kick.

Players in the community are highlighting it takes just over two hours to boost an alt from level 10 to 70! This method will surely entice players to level more alts in preparation for Warbands in The War Within. If you’re unsure of this method, check out Manthieus and his video here.

Multiboxing:

I’ve been multiboxing my own boosting teams within Heroic Dungeons. I haven’t been worrying about the times taken to complete dungeons, more so the fact that I’m leveling four new characters with ease. Multiboxing is safe to use if you don’t input broadcast any keystrokes to the other clients. Just create an invite and follow macros. For ease of use, I use JoeMultiboxer for my window layout.

Level 70 Blasters:

Level 70 Blasters (previously known as Froggers) is a term for characters that have reached an average ilvl 476 and have significant Infinite Cloak stats to solo all MoP Remix content, most notably, heroic/mythic raids.

Whether you’ve enlisted in LFR or higher-difficulty raids, you’ve come across one. You’ve peered across the damage meters, and the top DPS is hitting well above 1-2m DPS! If you’re fortunate, these players occasionally create boosting raids, taking you through heroic raids.

I was silly enough to accept an invite to one at level 35 to Heart of Fear and was one shot every time I was resurrected. Oh, and I got no loot either! Sadly, I don’t have a 70-blaster at the time of this post!

How to get Started?

Choose a realm where you want to start a new character, and select Timerunning. Remember, this character will join this realm once the event has ended. Blizzard gave us five extra character slots, giving us a total of 65, so if you have ambitions to level more alts (maybe on alternative realms), now is your chance!

Once you’ve created your character, pick up the first quest to begin your adventure. Ensure you equip your Infinite Cloak! Before heading out, let’s set your hearthstone with the Graceful Swan coordinates [36.46] on the Timeless Isle; this ensures we can get to the Timeless Isle more easily.

MoP Remix Achievements:

There are several achievements you will want to earn. These will reward you with Bronze and Threads. Some, however, award you a stronger Infinite Cloak for your alts, some reward you with collectibles, and five unlock the Neck, Rings, and Trinkets.

Here’s a run-down of the achievements you should be aiming for. I’ve also added the rewards in brackets!

Standard Achievements:

Feats of Strength Achievements:

Open your achievements panel (keybind: Y) and select Remix: Pandaria; this will give you a comprehensive list of the achievements available for this event.

Neck, Rings and Trinkets:

Once you’ve completed the five achievements (mentioned above) that unlock the Neck, Rings, and Trinkets, these can then be purchased by your alts for 10 Bronze each! To purchase them, interact with the NPC: Lidamorrutu from an Infinite Bazaar!

These will increase in item level until your character reaches level 70. They will lock at item level 342 and are not upgradable! This is why the highest average item level your character can reach at level 70 is ilvl 476!

Gearing and upgrading in MoP Remix:

Thanks to Blizzard’s recent hotfix, stats on your Infinite Cloak are now capped at 10 million. The running gag of having a cap on something regarded as infinite is still doing the rounds on all the socials. Importantly, because of these stat caps, stats on gear aren’t as crucial as the item level. Equip the piece of gear that has the highest item level.

Alternatively, if you loot a rare or epic piece, upgrading it at an infinite Bazaar is beneficial. Rare and epic pieces give primary/bonus stats. Upgrade a piece to the current highest ilvl for that slot to keep the bronze costs to a minimum. The greater you increase a piece of gear, the more sockets will become available.

When you reach level 70, looted gear will cap at item level 346. To increase this further, you must pay an obscene amount of Bronze to upgrade it to a maximum of ilvl 556. You cannot upgrade the Neck, Ring, or Trinkets. There are 15 upgrade levels to reach ilvl 556, and each slot must be at the same level before the next upgrade level!

Your weapon(s) will be the most expensive to upgrade and offer you the most benefit, so always consider upgrading that first! The cheapest are your Feet, Waist, Hands, and Wrists.

MoP Remix Gems:

The Gems available to us make your character as powerful as the stats from your Infinite Cloak. We have Meta, Cogwheel, Tinker, and Prismatic Gems. Check your class guides to see what gems are best in slot for your character. I recommend using the Addon: Narcissus to efficiently add and remove gems.

Meta Gems:

Meta Gems give you one powerful ability that fits in your helm slot. This ability will be available on a special action bar. Tireless Spirit, Lifestorm, Ward of Salvation, and Oblivion Sphere are good options! For 500 Bronze, you can purchase a random Meta Gem with Asynchrionized Meta Gem from Lidamorrutu.

Cogwheel Gems:

Your Cogwheel Gem will fit in your Feet slot, predominantly boosting mobility. Blink and Heroic Leap are the best options, although I picked the latter for the extra damage. For 400 Bronze, you can purchase a random Cogwheel Gem with Asynchrionized Cogwheel Gem from Lidamorrutu.

Tinker Gems:

Tinker Gems can increase your damage, healing, and survivability, and depending on the ilvl of the gear, you can equip up to 12 Tinker Gems. These are all passive abilities and are class/spec dependent! For 300 Bronze, you can purchase a random Tinker Gem with Asynchrionized Tinker Gem from Lidamorrutu.

Prismatic Gems:

Prismatic Gems increase a specific secondary/tertiary stat. However, there are four qualities: Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Combine three Uncommon gems to make a Rare, combine three Rare to make an epic, and three epic gems to make a Legendary.

To successfully create a Legendary gem, you’ll need 27 Uncommon Gems! Remember to send any unwanted Prismatic Gems to your alts, as they’re tradable. Alternatively, you can scrap them for Bronze. If you want to purchase more, for 200 Bronze, you can buy a random Prismatic Gem with Asynchrionized Prismatic Gem from Lidamorrutu.

Personal Bank:

During your time in MoP Remix, you will obtain a lot of gear, gems, and other consumables. To assist with storage, unlock bank tabs to store items when you have sufficient gold. To do this, travel to either Shrine of the Two Moons for Horde players or Shrine of the Seven Stars for Alliance players.

On the second level, you’ll find the vaults; this is where the vaultkeepers are! You can unlock seven tabs and the consumables tab. Although there are no professions in MoP Remix, you can still come across materials from defeating mobs.

Besides the vaultkeeper, is Ludwig, the storage enthusiast, this NPC will sell you 36-slot bags for 10 Bronze each. These bags will give you sufficient space to hoard all your rewards and will be transferred with you once the event ends.

MoP Remix Leveling:

Predominantly, you will be looking to complete campaigns within Mists of Pandaria. Completing these campaigns will reward you with achievements (mentioned previously) that reward you with significant Bronze and Threads.

If you need help determining where you can level, check the top of the map; it highlights the level required for each zone. If you come across a rare with question marks obscuring its level, don’t interact with it. This mob is significantly stronger than you and will likely kill you before escaping, for example, the Zandalari Warbringer!

However, if you come across a rare on your travels that is within your level range, defeat it for increased experience. There’s also merit in collecting the orbs in the sky; these reward a random amount of Bronze. Check out my next topic, group content, to maximize your experience gains while leveling.

Group Content in MoP Remix:

Whether farming, leveling, defeating World Bosses, or completing end-game content, you can group with others. All Scenario, Heroic Dungeon/Raid/World Boss lockouts are daily! If you’re following Manthieus’ method, remember to turn auto-loot off!

Tip: When running random Scenarios or Dungeons, to prevent being queued into instances you dislike, consider adding a low-level character to your group that excludes that instance.

Ensure you pick up each daily quest.

By using the group finder, you can complete the following activities.

Scenarios in MoP Remix:

Scenarios are a 3-player instance available in normal and heroic versions. You do not need a tank or a healer for this content, but having one will complete the instance efficiently. The queue times for random Scenarios are quick – up to a 2-minute wait for a group. However, specific instances are dependent on your level!

In the Scenarios section within Group Finder, select the Specific Scenarios tab, and you will see a list of normal and heroic Scenarios available to you.

Dungeons in MoP Remix:

You can complete normal and heroic dungeons to assist in your leveling progress. Your gear will scale to your level. Due to the scaling issue, lower-level players will find it exceedingly easier than a level 70 player at 346 ilvl. Again, like Scenarios, specific Dungeons will become available once you reach the required level.

Be sure to collect and complete any quests available at the beginning of each dungeon. These are one-time quests only available once you reach the required level.

In the Dungeon Finder section within Group Finder, select the Specific Dungeons tab, and you will see a list of normal and heroic dungeons available to you.

Raiding in MoP Remix:

As you reach specific level requirements, you can enter raids. While Looking for Raid (LFR) is straightforward, opting into normal raids is worthwhile! As mentioned, scaling is appalling in MoP Remix, and lower-level characters or level 70 (avg ilvl 476) characters will breeze through it. You will also gain a significant increase in your cloaks experience gain!

If you completed every Raid on each difficulty (LFR/Normal/Heroic/Mythic), you’d earn 82k Bronze!

Sign up via the premade groups to queue for normal/heroic/mythic raids. You must also travel to the raid location or send/receive a summon. If you’re struggling to get selected, you can create your own raids and have players apply to you! Remember, level 70 characters with an average ilvl 476 can solo most content. Siege of Orgrimmar is the only raid with a mythic difficulty!

Tusks of Mannoroth:

You will want to complete the Siege of Orgrimmar daily to collect the Bones of Mannoroth, which is a currency used to purchase the heirloom cosmetics (including Tusks of Manoroth) that used to drop from Garrosh Hellscream.

World Bosses in MoP Remix:

As before, either sign up or start a group via Group Finder. Level 70 Blasters can solo these bosses easily! Be aware they do not drop the mounts. I’d suggest logging in to Dragonflight and trying to farm these; however, they’re on a 7-day lockout!

Here’s a list of World Bosses available to you!

  • Galleon – Valey of the Four Winds
  • Sha of Anger – Kun Lai Summit
  • Oondasta – Isle of Giants
  • Nalak – Isle of Thunder
  • Ordos – Timeless Isle
  • The Celestial Court – Timeless Isle

For the Celestial Court, you must defeat one of the four bosses, Chi-Ji, Niuzao, Xuen, and Yu’lon daily. Defeating all four bosses will award you the achievement: Celestial Challenge!

The World Boss - (Chi-Ji) Celestial Court.

Faction Dailies to do in MoP Remix:

Apart from the three dailies I’ve covered above, dailies are also available from all the Factions within Pandaria. If you’re looking for activities to complete to farm Bronze and Threads, ensure you’re completing these every day! Thankfully, the annoying Tillers rep grind isn’t here!

If you have no dailies available for a specific Faction, you must complete the prerequisites to unlock them. Here’s a list of Factions that offer dailies!

Vale of the Eternal Blossoms Rares:

There is an abundance of rares in the Vale of the Eternal Blossoms. Not only do they drop Bronze and Threads, but they also drop Ancient Guo-Lai Cache Keys and Golden Lotus rep. To use any of the keys you collect, you must venture into the Guo Lai Halls, which have chests you can open. These contain Bronze, Threads, and Bind-on-Account rep tokens.

These rares are a great farm while waiting for a Scenario/Dungeon/Raid queue to pop. You must be level 40 and above to get credit for your kill!

Timeless Isle Rares:

A great source of Bronze and Threads is defeating rares, abundant on the Timeless Isle. I set my hearthstone here so I can quickly get here without flying. Players must be level 45 and above to earn credit for a kill!

Thanks to a post on Wowhead, the best rare to farm is Archiereus of Flame. Players with Honored reputation with Emperor Shaohao can purchase Scroll of Challenge. Every 5 minutes, you can summon this rare, which makes it the most efficient rare farm on the Timeless Isle. You get 100+ Bronze, 5 or 6 Threads, a Lesser Charm of Good Fortune, some gear, and possibly some gems.

Tip: If you’re looking to farm Timeless Coins from mobs on the Timeless Isle, consider grouping up with other like-minded players, you get a buff: Spending Timelessness Together. The buff gives a 10% increase in Timeless Coins per person in your group, totaling 40% in a 5-man group.

Isle of Thunder Rares:

Once you reach level 50, complete the prerequisite quests and the scenario to unlock the teleport and reputation gains for the Isle of Thunder. The rares are scattered around the island, so you must react once you see a rare spawning.

Troves of the Thunder King (Scenario):

The Troves of the Thunder King is a timed Scenario (on a daily lockout) where you can loot as many chests as possible before the time expires. These chests are a great source of Threads. To unlock this content, you must be level 50 and have earned the Key to the Palace of Lei Shen by completing either Aid the Sunreavers Onslaught (Horde) or Aid the Kirin Tor Offensive (Alliance). These quests will cost 10 Lesser Charm of Good Fortune per day – so there’s merit in farming rares throughout Pandaria!

Check out Supplier Bao; he sells items for Lesser Charm of Good Fortune, which can aid in your completion of the scenario within the time limit. Be aware classes with good mobility will have an easier time, especially Demon Hunters!

Helpful guide by Wowhead.

Lesser Charms of Good Fortune:

If you have a lot of Lesser Charm of Good Fortune in your inventory and need help with how to use them, you can turn them in for rep at a Faction within Pandaria. You can also purchase items from Supplier Bao on the Isle of Thunder, which can assist in the Scenario: Troves of the Thunder King.

For players who remember the original Mists of Pandaria expansion, you could use these Charms towards bonus rolls for extra loot within Raids and World Boss kills. This method is still an option in Dragonflight, as I was fortunate to loot the [Son of Galleon] with a bonus roll this week!

Farming Bronze & Threads:

Many farming locations are heavily populated, thanks to guides on YouTube. However, I found a nice little spot in Sra’vess within Townlong Steppes. For those unaware, this is one of the areas used for the Shado Pan Assault dailies.

While the mobs drop small amounts of Bronze and Threads, it’s still a nice spot due to the dense mobs in the area and their quick respawns. Be careful of the elites and mobs that drop bombs; if you carry low-level characters, they can be killed or, worse, one shot!

Here’s a selection of addons I’m using to level my character(s) in MoP Remix. If you think I need to include something, comment below!

MoP Remix Feedback:

If you have any concerns or feedback that can help, consider checking out this forum post asking for feedback regarding your experience within MoP Remix. Be honest and transparent, giving detailed information/experiences when possible. I’d imagine Blizzard may make adjustments depending on your feedback.

Conclusion:

MoP Remix has been an excellent event, which hopefully Blizzard looks to carry forward with other expansions. Yes, leveling characters in Dragonflight and one-shotting old content may be quick and fun to most. Still, there’s something nostalgic about playing content within a restricted environment where you can enjoy it for what it was.

I’ll be the first to say Blizzard failed in many aspects of MoP Remix and tried their best to hotfix and minimize any potential gameplay issues that could affect other players’ experience. However, this could be a foundation if they consider making other previous expansions available. I’d love to see a special event for WotLK or Legion. What would you like to see?

At the time of posting this article, there were still 72 days left of the event. If you are still contemplating taking part, do it! You’ll be pleasantly surprised. There’s so much to do, and it will keep you active while we wait for the release of The War Within.

Towards the end of the event, I do expect Blizzard to make Bronze and Threads easier to acquire and maybe offer discounted gear upgrades, helping players who joined late have an opportunity to catch up. Keep your eyes peeled for updates!
