Timewalking: Cataclysm

For the next seven days, Timewalking: Cataclysm is available. During this time, increase your Cataclysm Faction Reputation gains, obtain Timewarped Badges, and, more importantly, purchase unobtainable Recipes! This event is also an ideal opportunity to level up level 60 characters within Timewalking Dungeons!

For more information, continue reading.

Cataclysm Bonus Reputation:

You will receive the Buff: Sign of the Destroyer throughout the event; this entitles you to receive an extra 50% reputation gains from quests and combat from Cataclysm content!

Reminder, when handing in reputation tokens (Reputation Commendations), you will benefit from the 50% bonus above!

A Shattered Path Through Time:

Firstly, if you’re level 70, pick up the Quest: A Shattered Path Through Time. The quest is available from Kazra (the Dragonkin in front of the fountain in Valdrakkan). Coordinates are [49.59].

The quest asks you to defeat five Timewalking Raid Bosses or Dungeons. Upon completing this quest, you’ll receive a piece of Gear at ilvl 415!

Timewalking: Firelands.

To participate in a Firelands Timewalking Raid, you must form or join a group within the Premade Groups (Raids: Legacy) section of the Looking for Group tool. You will need 10-30 players, and must be level 35 or above! [Source]

Once you have your Raid, you need to speak to Vormu, who also offers a Quest: Disturbance Detected: Firelands. She will teleport you to the Raid Instance: FirelandsVormu is located within the Cataclysm Portals of both Stormwind [74.18] and Orgrimmar [49.37].

Be aware in Patch 10.0.7, there was a known bug that the Cinder required to complete the quest was bugged. I’m unsure if the bug is still an issue! I’ll update you as soon as I know more! [Source]

Cataclysm Timewalking Dungeons:

Six Dungeons are available during the Bonus Event, two offering a small opportunity to obtain a rare mount. Here’s a comprehensive list of all six Dungeons available during the Timewalking: Cataclysm event. An asterisk denotes a potential mount available.

Thanks to Patch 10.1.7, you must meet the level 35 requirement to participate in Timewalking Dungeons. To join, open the Group Finder tool and adjust the type to Random Timewalking Dungeon!

For example, if you’re level 60, you will obtain ilvl 194 gear from looting defeated bosses. If you choose to level within Timewalking Dungeons (which is an excellent option), the Gear will continue to scale up as you level up.

Timewalking Twinks:

Thanks to an awesome community of like-minded players/theory crafters, it’s possible to obtain/craft gear that scales incredibly well in Timewalking content. Equipping the best gear will make you very powerful, so much so you’re similar to a Twink. For those unsure, a Twink was a player that would turn off experience gains to equip best in slot gear at a level range that would be more power to normal players in that bracket.

Today, Blizzard stopped Twinks thanks to giving them their own bracket in Battlegrounds and affecting experience gains for other players within a party farming experience – alternatively known as level boosting. However, thanks to how Timewalking scaling works and how every player is scaled down to a level/item level appropriate to the content, the Twink is back!

Timewalking Resources:

If you’re interested in a powerful character to farm best in slot gear and unsure where to start, check out the Resources I’ve added below to help get you started!

Twinks and GoldMaking:

If you read the Timewalking Spreadsheet I shared above, you’ll notice a lot of crafted gear. This is how I managed to hit 10m gold in one week following the initial release of the Mage Tower. Thanks to the region-wide Auction House for consumables, some of the value has gone. Thankfully, depending on your realm, there may still be value in certain crafts.

Carefully read the additional Information panel within the Timewalking Spreadsheet; you may need to add Crafter’s Mark, Relic of the Past, or specific Essences.

Here’s a list of some of the items I craft and sell. There’s also potential in flipping the Queen’s Garnets, as these are difficult to farm!

Kiatke:

During the bonus event, there is a Timewalking vendor:  Kiatke. She sells Gear (scaled to your level), Reputation CommendationsHeirloom Tokens, and Unobtainable Recipes. She is located near the Cataclysm Portals in both Stormwind [76.17] and Orgrimmar [52.41].

Be aware she also sells two Toys and a Bag of Shiny Things.

More details are below.

Gear:

If you’re looking for items to fill in slots unavailable to Heirlooms, these are a great option! Kiatke sells a range of armor pieces (Gear), from RingsTrinketsChestWaist, and Wrists. The pieces will cost either 25 or 50 Timewarped Badges each.

Reputation Commendations:

Furthermore, you will also be able to purchase Reputation Commendations from Kiatke. When you use these, you will earn 50% extra Reputation during the bonus event. Each Commendation will cost 25 Timewarped Badges.

Here’s a list of all the Commendations available.

Heirloom Tokens:

Kiatke also sells Heirloom Tokens. These tokens help increase the item level of your Heirlooms. If you have plenty of gold, I’d recommend using gold to purchase the tokens instead.

You will need a lot of Timewarped Badges if you want to upgrade your Heirlooms with this method. Below is a list of the Tokens available. The level in brackets denotes the maximum level the Token will upgrade an Heirloom to.

Unobtainable Recipes:

During Cataclysm, many Recipes became unobtainable, mainly due to the source of the Recipe being removed from the game. However, in 2021Blizzard made purchasing these Recipes via Kiatke possible.

Here’s a comprehensive list outlining all the Recipes available. Be aware that you can post these Recipes on the Auction House; depending on your realm, it could prove lucrative! Each Recipe costs 1500 Timewarped Badges.

Cata Timewalking Toys:

Two Toys are available; they are both Bind on Pickup, so they have no gold value. These are pretty expensive, so purchase anything else you need first!

Bag of Shiny Things:

The Bag of Shiny Things will set you back 150 Timewarped Badges. I’d only recommend purchasing these if you do not need Timewarped Badges. There is a 1.1% chance of it containing a Companion Pet: Strand Crawler, which, once learned and caged, can be sold at the Auction House.

The Strand Crawler, at level 25, can sell for approximately 6000 gold depending on your realm!
