Uncanny Gear (Enchanting)

With a couple of weeks until the release of Shadowlands Pre-patch, I thought it would be a great time to quickly jump back on the crafting bandwagon and give you some tips for crafting Uncanny gear via the profession: Enchanting.

With the expansion almost at an end, don’t be put off thinking the Uncanny gear isn’t worthwhile anymore, as you’d be wrong! It’s still selling extremely well, and with a couple of things to consider (outlined below), we can profit from players quickly levelling alts ready for the pre-patch.

Important: Make sure you have rank 3 recipes learned.

It’s imperative that you have rank 3 on all the Uncanny recipes it prevents us from losing gold in the long run. It will also reduce the amount of Expulsom required to craft an item. Expulsom is a problematic material to acquire and is necessary for every Uncanny craft and the best way to gather this is following Samadan’s bracer shuffle method. Please follow his directions precisely. Once we’ve collected all our Expulsom from scrapping the bracers, we can start to craft our Uncanny items.

It’s best to craft every item, so be sure to craft as many of each as you can. I have a minimum of 10 of each item posted on the Auction House. The reason being is my TSM has Ignore Variation unticked. The benefit to this is that we make sure we get the best value for the items with the best stats. If we have Ignore Variation ticked TSM will post all of our gear on the Auction House below the cheapest item, regardless of its stats, and we stand to lose gold on our best items. So be sure to untick Ignore Variation for the best results!

It’s worth bearing in mind, that once Shadowlands has released and dependant on scaling (due to level squish), Uncanny Gear shouldn’t be important, other than for the benefit of Transmog and only then, would I consider ticking the Ignore Variation. Stats won’t matter if someone is purchasing your gear purely for Transmog purposes. Remember to adapt as the game transitions to stay one step ahead of your competition.

With the Auction House throttle activated when you cancel auctions to repost, I’d recommend posting your Uncanny Gear at 12-hour or 24-hour intervals. This gives you the freedom to post more often without getting throttled. Many of my competitors post at 48-hours, so as long as I log in when my items expire, I can repost successfully, keeping my auctions at the cheapest.

Characters Missing After Realm Connection

Ever since the completion of the recent realm connections on EU, I immediately noticed that a character was missing and decided to check it out. It appears, that the character in question, had recently completed a character transfer 15 days prior and due to the recent connections the character is currently inaccessible. Although the character is showing up on his old realm, in it’s old Guild on the Armory, this is simply an error with it’s old data.

I finally got a response tonight regarding my support ticket informing me, that they’re getting the developers and engineers to look in to this immediately but no time frame has been given for when I can expect it to be resolved. The character itself had almost 1 million gold and almost 60 million gold worth of inventory, so you could understand my frustration and concern.

As I’m sure you’ll agree, this is very frustrating. Today’s blog post is merely a nudge in your direction in a bid to urge you to check all of your accounts and characters for any potential issues, especially if you’ve completed a character transfer on a realm that’s recently been connected.

If you’ve fallen victim too, I urge you to contact Support immediately, and offer them as much detail as possible. Don’t worry if you don’t have details to hand, they’ll have records.

As reminded to me today by @GumdropsEU on Twitter, if you access your account and the realm you play on isn’t showing any characters. Simply find your realm and enter and viola your characters should now be there. The character lists need updating after a realm connection. If they’re still not showing up, create a new character to refresh the list. If it still persists, then it’s likely you’re in the same boat as me, open a ticket for support.

Here’s hoping many of you weren’t effected, but rest reassured knowing that there’s people on-hand if you are.

Ink Trader changes in Shadowlands

Today I thought I’d check out the BETA tab on Wowhead again, but this time, to check on the changes coming to the ink traders. One of the easiest shuffles in BFA was buying cheap Roseate Pigments and shuffling them for higher-priced Old World inks via the ink trader, as it was very profitable on low-medium populated realms. Upon the release of Shadowlands, the inks required to purchase Old World inks will change. Today’s blog post will delve into these changes and what it means to you if you’re like myself and shuffle inks to flip or use them for Old World crafts within Inscription.

It’s essential to begin by reminding you that this is information from Shadowlands BETA. The developers can and will make changes up until release, so please bear this in mind and check for future updates.

The ink needed to do the ink shuffle from the ink trader in Shadowlands is called Umbral Ink. To craft this, you will need three materials,

You will need one Umbral Ink to purchase one common ink, and you’ll need ten Umbral Inks to buy one uncommon ink, as highlighted below. As a kind reminder, when posting any uncommon inks to the Auction House, make sure your pricing reflects the cost of the ten Roseate Pigments. This can easily be forgotten and will lead to losses in potential profit.

Ink Trader Changes in Shadowlands - GrahransWoWGold

As with all new expansions and the influx of new items to craft, materials are going to be very costly due to the demand being more significant than the supply. As the weeks and months progress, the supply will slowly move in line with the demand, and the prices will fall to an acceptable rate. The problem is, Umbral Ink is a required material for 18 crafts, including Darkmoon Card of Death, Contracts, and Missives. Later in the first patch, will come the release of the new Raid: Castle Natharia, meaning Vantus Runes will become important too. Umbral Ink will be in high demand due to the Darkmoon Card, Contracts (to help players boost their reputations), and Missives (which adds stats to crafted gear).

The Darkmoon Card was very profitable at the start of BFA, and as history shows Darkmoon Trinkets during the first patch are normally best in slot trinkets, and will undoubtedly be again in Shadowlands. With all these crafts in mind, the Umbral Ink will have an importance in crafting, so we don’t want to use it shuffling inks. As with the current situation with Roseate Pigment in BFA, as the demand for Umbral Ink declines, the value will drop, and the need to find alternative methods to sell it/trade it will arrive and Umbral Ink will be at it’s cheapest value, as you see today with Roseate Pigment.

So our alternative is, if you need Old World inks, I suggest stockpiling the inks you need using the Roseate Pigment shuffle now, while the cheap pigments are there, trade the inks you need and store them in your bank. Be sure to trade them before the ink trader changes in Shadowlands, or you’ll be stuck with large quantities of Roseate Pigment, unless you need them for Legion crafts of course!

I have already done this method on all my characters that have Inscription. The one thing worth bearing in mind at this point is the increase in players leveling in different Old World zones. As you’ll know, you can now level in whatever zone you wish to level 50, and this means that Old World materials might start flooding the Auction House. Thus herbs and pigments currently in low supply may start increasing in supply in Shadowlands, bringing the crafting costs of previous inks cheaper than the cost of the Roseate Pigment shuffle. Currently, it’s not easy to ascertain how much of a difference leveling will have on Old World materials, but we must keep a close eye on it and adapt where necessary.

Any method of stockpiling before a new expansion is always a gamble, so please only participate in this, if you have the capital to risk it. The risk is minimal if you have a Scribe. Otherwise, always note the average price point at which you purchased your Roseate Pigment before Shadowlands and make sure you sell your Old World inks (that you traded) or Roseate Pigment at a profit to avoid any potential losses.

I hope this post highlights the new changes to the ink trader in Shadowlands and maybe opens some new markets for you, to make gold in World of Warcraft.

Thank you to Wowhead for the source of information within my blog post.

Relic of the Past (Shadowlands)

With Shadowlands almost on the horizon, I ventured on to our trusted source of data, Wowhead, with the task of reading up on Relics of the Past. This will be the new optional crafting reagent coming to Shadowlands. The premise of the Relics, is to upgrade armor or weapons, to a greater required level and item level dependant on the Relic used. You can now increase your gear as you level. Below I’ve added some information for each Relic.

RelicItem LevelMin. Level
Relic of the Past I2315
Relic of the Past II3325
Relic of the Past III4335
Relic of the Past IV5645
Relic of the Past V8750

Each profession, Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, and Tailoring will have the ability to craft 5 Relics, using materials associated with that profession. The higher the Relic, the greater the number of materials needed.

Below are three sheets I quickly knocked up, in a bid to help readers either farm or begin stockpiling materials needed to craft these relics. Please be aware, that whilst Shadowlands is still in Beta, information and quantities can and will change up until release. Please always check Wowhead for updates.

Awaiting Blizzard for clarification on Draenic Iron Ore, which is currently unavailable to players.

Click on an image to enlarge it.

Update: On the 8th October, Blizzard released a new patch to the PTR in preparation for the Shadowlands pre-patch and the new changes/nerf to the Relic of the Past. Please check the link out here to see these changes. The new vendor materials needed can be found below:

Most of my Guild Banks have a lot of these materials already, so it won’t be an issue for me, but this might be something of interest to you going into Shadowlands. If you’d like to start stockpiling some of these items too, here’s a simple TSM Import String. This string has all the materials needed and a simple 100% DBMarket shopping operation by default. Be sure to amend this to your own operation if you wish.

On the whole, I think this is a great addition to the game this will make professions worthwhile throughout previous expansions and will no doubt extend the life of items, the more you’re willing to upgrade it as you journey to level 50 (Expected cap). With the recent changes to heirlooms, it’s great that we can in some shape or form, still equip and forget our gear as we level, bearing in mind, that you remember to use your Relic upon hitting that new level milestone. The only thing I’m not sure of is how items will scale, especially at level 50 and the gear we’ll acquire through the pre-patch event. I haven’t taken the option to play Shadowlands Beta, as I simply don’t have the spare time, but if you have access, be sure to check out where the ilvl 100 gear scales with current BFA gear. It’s also worth wondering where scaling will leave twink brackets and best in slot twink gear.

If you’d like to check out the gear that will be upgradable, using Relics, then check out this link.

If you’d like to read up more on the Relic of the Past, or maybe check for updates, etc, then please check out Wowhead for their guide or alternatively, check out this excellent video from SamadanPlaysWoW where he discusses the shuffle advantages of crafting low level gear, upgrading it with a Relic and selling the finished product to the vendor for massive profit margins.

I hope you enjoyed this post today. Until next time…

I’m In Awe Of TSM4 BETA

It’s been a very chaotic few weeks, so I’ve not blogged much up until today. I’m currently sorting out my new website, which will go into greater detail of my day to day activities concerning gold-making in World of Warcraft. Added to this, I recently got invited to the new TSM 4.10 BETA wave, and (to rub salt in the wounds), I inadvertently got invited to Shadowlands BETA too. I hope to have the new website up and running in the next week or so. Due to time restraints, I cannot participate in the Shadowlands BETA, but I’ve decided to take advantage of TSM’s 4.10 Beta instead, as reviewed below.

TSM4.10 BETA

Themes, Dashboard & Ledger:

TSM BETA BLOG

As soon as you’ve successfully installed and loaded up the game, the first thing you’ll notice is the new sleek look of TSM. Within the settings (Appearance), we can customize this further by changing the themes; this, in my opinion, is an excellent addition. Some of the colors appear strange, but this could be my filters within the game, as I’m colorblind. As you’ll see above, the graph is a lot easier on the eyes, and from what I’ve read up, the information obtained for the dashboard and ledger is a lot more accurate now than the previous TSM version. We can change the timeframe within the graphs, to give us a detailed look at our profit and losses.

Opinion: Excellent addition. Even with colorblindness, some of the themes are excellent. Tell me a gold-maker that doesn’t want to see graphs outlining their progress!

Groups, Operations & Search Feature:

TSM BETA BLOG 1

When creating a new group and searching for items, it’s never been easier. We can effortlessly move and adjust our groups, and the new base group gives us the ability to search for new items by inputting search conditions into the box, as I’ve highlighted above. For example purposes, I used the search function to look for Battle Pets. As you can see, this returned all the battle pets I currently don’t have assigned to a group.

Adding and adjusting operations to groups is a lot easier too. We now get a search box pop-up when adding or changing operations to a group. Instead of needlessly scrolling through all the operations, we can use the search function instead and promptly assign an operation we desire. If you head over to the operations tab, you will also see all the groups assigned to a given operation.

Opinion: As I’m sure you’re aware, I love creating groups with plenty of sub-groups, the ability to keep them up-to-date by adding new items when added to the game, will no doubt be a game-changer. The ease of doing all this will allow many to create their very own profiles!

Shopping & TSM Sniper:

Browsing the Auction House has also had some improvements. The ability to pause and purchase items during a scan, so you don’t miss out on lucrative deals now. We also have the addition to buy items in bulk. Again, as shown above, you can see on the right, we can now select buyout on items, and we’ll get a pop-up that allows us to buy a more significant quantity. Before TSM 4.10 this was only achievable via the wow’s default user interface.

You will also notice above that there’s a return of TSM Sniper. However, I’ve not used this myself yet! But I’m sure many will be happy with its return.

Opinion: For me, the most significant change was the ability to finally buy bulk quantities of items, without unnecessarily needing to use the wow ui instead. Others will undoubtedly rejoice at the return of sniper, and understandably so.

Change Log & Sources Explained

For a detailed summary of the changes with TSM 4.10 BETA please check out TSM’s change log.

With the addition of new price sources and the removal of (Use Smart Average), I urge anyone to check out TSM’s price source guides below. These will help you understand and maybe create your own price sources. Creating your own price sources will give you the edge on your competitors when posting your auctions on to the Auction House.

New complete Battle Pet Import String

Before I leave, I’d like to add, that the battle pet import string created/shared by @Billisonyxia on Twitter, has been updated by myself, by removing the non-existent common and uncommon battle pets within his list. I used warcraftpets to cross-reference the pets that weren’t obtainable. I have added this complete list to my Pastebin. Please can you show your support to Bilis, by checking out the links below to show your appreciation for the original content!

Credit: BilisOnyxia
Original Import String: Reddit Post
BilisOnyxia’s Patreon

The update has every battle pet, sorted by;

  1. Rare
  2. Uncommon
  3. Common
  4. Grey (Ignored Variation) (Ignores level, breed & rarity)

Important: Please read first!

If you want to buy and sell pets based on their level and rarity, DO NOT assign operations to option 4: Grey (Ignored Variation) group. Instead, apply your operations to options 1, 2, 3.

If you have absolutely no interest in the pets level or rarity and want to flip it, assign operations to option 4: Grey (Ignored Variation) group and DO NOT apply operations to the first 3 options. Failure to follow these steps will incur issues when shopping and posting pets on the Auction House.

Further Clarification:
Option 4: These are the default pet item ID’s that will ignore level, breed, and rarity.

Please back-up your current profile before importing, in case of any issues. I have successfully imported this, with no issues. However, if you do experience any issues, or you would like to offer some feedback, please feel free to contact me: grahranswowgold@gmail.com and I will respond at the earliest convenience.

I hope you enjoyed this post. With any luck, you’ll hear from me again within the week, promoting my new website.

Profitable Profs (Part I) Enchanting

I’ve seen numerous Youtube videos over the past week from respectable GoldMakers regarding professions and how it’s an integral part of working the Auction House. With the extension of the [Winds of Wisdom] Buff for 100% experience, it’s never been a better time to churn out those crafted items for new players. If you’ve followed my blog, you’ll know a lot of my income comes from professions, none more so, than Enchanting. So today, I’ve decided to elaborate further on what I craft and why.

Enchanting

My main has been an Enchanter & Leatherworker since I first started playing the game back in Wrath of the Lich King, at this point I was raiding with a Horde Guild called Influx on Neptulon EU and enchanting was a very lucrative market back then and there were a lot of items you could enchant, unlike today! Thankfully, early reports suggest there will be a lot more items available to enchant upon the release of Shadowlands. Enchanting is an extremely versatile profession, in the case that disenchanting items not needed can net you a decent profit, by merely selling the materials straight on to the Auction House, or alternatively (in my case), craft important Enchants that can have a benefit to players.

Now I hear you ask, what’s the best enchants? Well given the current climate, leveling is a great place to start, so I’ve added a list of enchants below, that I’ve had a lot of success selling. This list will apply to players leveling, so these are great for applying to heirlooms. You’ll notice a lack of Mastery enchants, this is because Mastery doesn’t scale below the level 80.

Each item below is linked to Wowhead so you can check how it scales at a specific level.

Honorable Enchants…

These are Enchants that are used outside of Heirlooms that are worth mentioning. This is purely for players that wish to min/max their character’s stats or gathering ability. The items that these enchant to, will be replaced frequently, so personally, I don’t use these enchants, but others do. I’d suggest making one of each of these enchants and see how this market reacts to your realm.

Conclusion:

So there you have it, a list of Enchants I regularly post/sell on the Auction House aimed at players leveling new characters. If you fancy doing this market too, simply make a small amount, between 1-3 enchants of each enchant, and slowly increase your inventory, the more you sell. This way you don’t overstock and have greater amounts of those you sell often. As with all crafts, some sell quicker than others, some demand a greater price than others, trial and error, and of course patience is key.

Let me know how you get on or get in touch via Facebook or Twitter if you have any questions.

Best of luck…
