Timewalking, Turbulent Timeways and the Dreamsurge!

Timewalking & Dreamsurges

Timewalking in Patch 10.1.7

Timewalking is a fantastic opportunity to experience Dungeons and Raids from previous expansions. It is also an excellent method to level characters and earn old reputations. However, Blizzard initially restricted this to level 60 and above; this has now changed! With Turbulent Timeways and Dreamsurges, this could be the best time to level those alts!

Continue reading for changes to level requirements, Turbulent Timeways, and how you could potentially get an 80% increase to experience gains for characters level 60-69!

Mage Tower & Legion Timewalking

Legion Timewalking Event & Mage Tower Changes...

The Return of the Legion Timewalking Event:

Some of you may not be aware, but on the 12th of April for U.S. players (the 13th of April for E.U players), we’ll see the long-awaited return of the World Event: Legion Timewalking. This event was an extremely profitable market last time due to the re-emergence/release of the Mage Tower.

When the event opened for the first time, I managed to earn 10 million gold over the first seven days. Sadly, if you’ve frequently been monitoring Wowhead (or alternative websites), you’ll be aware that the Mage Tower has a significant change at the end of this month.

Timewalking: The Burning Crusade

Timewalking: The Burning Crusade.

Timewalking Burning Crusade:

This Timewalking event: Burning Crusade, is a fantastic opportunity if you need to reach Revered and Exalted reputation for Factions within Outland. Plenty of Recipes and Transmog locked behind these reputation milestones, i.e., Shattered Sun Offensive, Keeper’s of Time, and The Consortium, to name a few.

With the buff: Sign of the Twisted Nether, we get a 50% increase in reputation gains from combat and quests. So if you plan on doing the dailies for the Shattered Sun Offensive and Normal/Heroic runs of Magister’s Terrace, this is the best time to do it!

You must be level 50 or above to participate in the random Timewalking dungeon.

Check those Alts!

If you remember my post regarding the World Event: WoW’s Anniversary and followed my advice to log in to all your alts, you will have earned some easy Timewarped Badges on them. Now is their moment to shine!

If your character is level 30 or above, they can access the vendor Cupri.

Log all your level 30 alts, purchase any commendations you need, and mail them to the character that requires the reputation boost. If you’re unsure what commendations are and where to buy them, check out the next part of this blog post: Reputations to Grind.

TBC Timewalking Dungeons:

Below are six Dungeons available to you during the TBC Timewalking event. You must be level 30 or above to queue up for these Dungeons! This is thanks to the changes within Patch 10.1.7!

TBC Timewalking Raid:

Also available during this Timewalking event is a special Timewalking Raid: Black Temple. You will need to form a Raid, and once you have your players, the Raid Leader can queue up! You must find the NPC: Vormu, who will allow you to queue for Timewalking: Black Temple.

Reputations To Grind:

Here’s a reminder of some of the factions to grind during this Timewalking Event.

Alternatively, check out the Timewalking vendor, Cupri. She sells an assortment of items for your hard-earned Timewarped Badges, including commendations. Here’s a list of commendations that will be of interest to you.

For a very well-detailed guide on farming reputations with Outland factions during the Timewalking: Burning Crusade event, check out Wowhead’s guide.

Reputation Tokens:

You may wish to either purchase these from the Auction House or check out Wowhead for the best places to farm them. Remember, handing in these tokens while under the buff: Sign of the Twisted Nether will reward you with a 50% extra reputation!

Cenarion Expedition:

Unidentified Plant Parts (Hand in up to Friendly)

Lower City:

Arakkoa Feather (Hand in until Honored)

The Aldor:

Mark of Kil’jaeden (Hand in until Honored)
Mark of Sargeras (Hand in until Exalted)
Fel Armament (Hand in until Exalted)

The Scryers:

Firewing Signet (Hand in until Honored)
Sunfury Signet (Hand in until Exalted)
Arcane Tome (Hand in until Exalted)

If you’re considering obtaining the Achievement: Hero of Shattrath, you will need to farm or purchase the following items to decrease the reputation with the faction you were exalted with first.

Dampscale Basilisk Eye (Aldor to The Scryers Neutral)
Dreadfang Venom Sac (The Scryers to Aldor Neutral)

Farming Instances & Dailies to Farm Rep:

Once you hit a reputation milestone for a specific Faction, you will be restricted to earning reputation either via Faction-specific dailies or instances associated with the Faction.

Check out Wowhead’s Rep farming guide. Scroll down to The Burning Crusade!

Bag of Fishing Treasures:

Another great shout is purchasing the Bag of Fishing Treasures from Cupri. This bag will set you back 150 Timewarped Badges. It can reward you with a BoP companion pet; four are available.

I’d only recommend doing this method if you have nothing else to purchase with your Timewarped Badges. Alternatively, shop the Auction House for these pets instead.

Ideally, you want to purchase these pets while the event is active; these companion pets will become more valuable when the event has finished. I regularly post these at 7.5k-10k each for a level 1 battle pet. If you have a level 25, consider adding 5k to its value.

Recipes of Interest:

There are far too many recipes to name, but I can assure you there’s a lot of gold to be made by acquiring some of the recipes locked behind Outland factions.

We’re not looking to flip these recipes; more so, learn them and craft the items.

Here are a few notable mentions from past experiences.

Recipe: Flask of Supreme Power (Keepers of Time)
Formula: Enchant Weapon – Greater Agility (The Violet Eye)
Jewelcrafting Recipes (Shattered Sun Offensive)

Some Sales highlighting how profitable these recipes are!

Timewalking Consumables:

As a reminder (especially for those who are not already familiar with Timewalking and the Mage Tower), there are scaling benefits for min-maxing your gear for participating in Timewalking content. Ideally, you want to have the best gear, gem slots, and consumables, but be aware of potential Legendary, Legion Legendary effects, and Azerite Power restrictions.

Remember, the more gem slots on your gear, the better!

Timewalking Gems:

The gems from Dragon Soul (Queen’s Garnet cuts) are best in slot. However, if you’re low on funds, always consider other gem cuts, Primordial Ruby, Inferno Ruby, Cardinal Ruby, and Crimson Spinel. The meta gems are very significant too.

Timewalking Enchants:

Due to level restrictions/limitations with enchants you need to follow a simple rule.

If your item is;

Below ilvl 50, use an enchant below level 50.
Above ilvl 50, use a level 50 enchant
.

Belt Buckles:

As mentioned above, gem slots are important, so equipping a belt buckle will add a gem slot to your waist. Ideally, you want the Living Steel Belt Buckle.

Check the r/Timewalking team for Timewalking tips and tricks. Also, there’s a great guide via Wowhead for optimizing your gear for all Timewalking Events. Ensure you follow the information regarding the event you’re interested in, especially TBC!

[UPDATE] Added the new minimum level requirements to enter TBC Timewalking Dungeons, following the update from Patch 10.1.7! (24.09.23)

Farming: Timewalking Materials

Farming: Timewalking Materials

Farming: Timewalking Materials

If you’ve read my previous blog post regarding the new World Event: Legion Timwalking, you will know the substantial amounts of gold you can earn, crafting: Gear, Enchants, Gems, and other consumables. The reason for the sudden demand is the reintroduction of the Mage Tower. Today’s blog will cover in greater detail how Farming: Timewalking Materials can and will net you a lot of gold!

The Mage Tower will now last until the first reset in January 2022!

However, have no fear if you don’t have a profession that can craft the gear or consumables! As the demand increases, the materials needed to create them will quickly decline. Now, you could profit here if you have a character that can farm materials (i.e., Herbs, Ore, Cloth, Leather, etc.).

Below, I’ll cover some materials to farm, including hints and tips on how best to price your materials to get the best bang for your buck.

Pricing Your Materials:

Your aim here is to sell your farmed materials at a price that will entice a buyer (crafter). If you price them too high, there’s no value for the crafter, and they won’t buy them! However, if you price them too low, you risk other farmers flipping your materials. To assist you, I have two options here, including examples.

Option 1) Use TheUndermineJournal to see the current values of the materials. Consider using an average price between the Region Market Value Average (RMA) and Market Value (DBM).

Example:

Exotic Leather (RMA) = 30g, (DBM) = 40g average would be 35g each.

Option 2) Alternatively, consider the crafts players will be making for the use of your materials. By calculating the materials needed within that craft, you can get an idea of the value of the materials.

Example:

Crafted Dreadful Gladiator’s Dragonhide Helm (Leather) ilvl 5410k gold.

Materials needed, 2x Magnificent Hide (or 100 Exotic Leather)

Potential values

Magnificent Hide max 2500g each

Exotic Leather max 25g each.

Option 2 (the method I use) gives the person purchasing your materials an opportunity to earn a potential 5k gold profit upon a successful sale, and you get a reasonable price for your materials.

Always bear in mind the material(s) posting fees before posting to the Auction House. Some materials have a hefty price. Also, consider the benefit of selling Bars over Ore.

Be Careful:

When posting your materials to the Auction House, be extremely careful! Some players purposely post one material at an obscenely low price in a bid for others to accidentally undercut it and then buy up those cheap materials to flip.

I’d recommend either posting manually or adjusting your TSM operations.

Check Your Alts:

I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind you to check your alts. If you played World of Warcraft throughout the expansion: Battle for Azeroth (BFA) and patch 8.3, you’d remember the changes to some of the MoP zones, Uldum, and the Vale of the Eternal Blossoms.

Due to the increased volume of players completing their dailies in these zones, materials were easier to acquire and were extremely cheap. I purchased a lot of the cheap materials; you may have to! So check those alts; you may have expensive materials hiding in your banks.

Materials to Farm:

Here’s a list of materials you can farm that will benefit crafters. Bear in mind the intermediate materials gained from Milling, Prospecting, Leatherworking, Transmuting, Smelting, and Scrapping. Click the links in brackets for their intermediate materials. These can either be farmed too, or purchased from the Auction House!

I’ve added a key below to highlight materials of interest, and where possible, where you can farm them. Alternatively, check out wow-professions for farming guides!

Herbs:
Pigments:
Ink:
Ore/Bar:
Gems:
Leather/Hides:
Cloth/Bolts:

WoW’s 17th Anniversary Event

WoW's 17th Anniversary Event

WoW’s 17th Anniversary:

It’s WoW’s 17th Anniversary and for the next 3 weeks, there’s plenty of things to do and obtain. The event finishes on the 6th of December, so be sure to acquire and participate in all the festivities on offer.

I’ve added information below, which I feel will be of interest to my readers. Feel free to drop me a line, if there’s nothing covered below, which you’re unsure of.

Anniversary Gift Package:

Upon logging in, you’ll receive a package within your mailbox called the Anniversary Gift Package. When you open the package, you’ll find the following.

If you’re like me, and you have a lot of alts on your account(s), be sure to log them all in and receive your Anniversary Gift Package. The 200 Timewarped Badges and the Celebration Package alone are worth the effort.

Timewalking Badges:

200 Timewarped Badges might not sound great, but it’s not bad for just logging in during this three-week event. What makes this more appealing is you can obtain this on all your alts, too; this is why I mentioned at the beginning of my post to log them all in.

Although these Timewarped Badges are bind on equip, you can spend your Timewarped Badges on items during a Timewalking event and post Bind on Account items to your alts/main (i.e. Reputation Commendations).

Remember, there are level restrictions in place for specific Timewalking events. Can you please take into account your alts level when trying to access a Timewalking vendor.

Celebration Package:

The recent changes to leveling alts in patch 9.1.5 and the introduction of the Celebration Package means it’s never been a better time to level alts. Upon using the Celebration Package, you will receive a buff that will increase experience and reputation gains by 17%; this will last until the end of the event.

If you accidentally misplace your Celebration Package, you can purchase a replacement from, Historian Ma’di for 15 copper. He also offers other items from previous Anniversary rewards for sale.

Now, if you’re bold, activate War Mode and further increase those experience gains.

A Timely Invitation:

Before you head on out on your journey to the Caverns of Time to hand in the quest: A Timely Invitation, consider opting out of War Mode. When the Anniversary event is active, many players will farm honorable kills around the quest giver, Chromie.

Although the area is heavily patrolled by the Warden’s of Time, well geared and organized players can/will hinder you and survive the impending onslaught from the Wardens.

Korrak’s Revenge:

Ah, the return of Korrak’s Revenge, Alterac Valley. I haven’t participated in this unique Battleground yet, this year. But if it’s anything like the previous anniversary events, this should be fun. I remember a Korrak’s Revenge quest; once you completed it, you got a weapon based on your level and item level. Sadly, this is no longer available!

However, when you visit Chromie to hand in the quest: A Timely Invitation, be sure to pick up the quest she offers called: Soldier of Time. Upon completion, you will receive 5 Mark of Honor,  and 200 Timewarped Badges.

I’m unsure at this point whether leveling within this Battleground will be sufficient. I also remember last year when Blizzard nerfed experience gains. However, it’s still fun, and once you complete the objective: Alterac Valley of Olde, you’ll receive another 200 Timewarped Badges!

Be prepared; these battles can last a long time!

Classic World Bosses:

Throughout Azeroth, you will encounter some of the classic world bosses, the Dragons of Nightmare, Azuregos, and Lord Kazzak. If you’re level 30 and above, join a party and defeat them. There are some excellent rewards on offer, don’t forget the weekly quest The Originals from Historian Llore. This is a weekly quest and will also highlight the Dragon of Nightmare available for that day.

Introduced this year is the world boss: Doomwalker at the entrance of the Caverns of Time, in Tanaris. Pick up the quest: Doomwalkin’ Has Come Knockin’ from Chromie. You will receive 150 Timewarped Badges for defeating Doomwalker.

Where To Find The World Bosses?

The Dragons of Nightmare:

Only one of these Dragons will be available for that given day, and they rotate on a scheduled basis.

Azuregos:
Doomwalker:
Lord Kazzak:

Rotation of The Dragons of Nightmare:

Addy, a contributor on Wowhead, has updated his comment, with this year’s (2021) Dragons of Nightmare rotation. For details, click the link here to view his content.

Please do leave a comment and like, to show your appreciation for his/her work.

Improving Your Chance Of Loot:

If you’re like me, you’ll know how frustrating RNG can be within World of Warcraft when obtaining loot. Thankfully, when you kill a classic world boss, we have the opportunity to get a bonus roll via the Seal of Wartorn Fate.

The Seal of Wartorn Fate was a coin you could purchase during the Battle for Azeroth expansion. Funnily enough, we can still buy these! There is a purchase limit of 2 coins per week, with a total cap of 5.

What Bosses Can I Bonus Roll On?

Only, Doomwalker, Azuregos, and Lord Kazzak appear to let you use a coin for a bonus roll. I’ve not had the bonus roll option when defeating one of the Dragons of Nightmare.

Purchase Information:

With a limit of 2 coins per week, I’d suggest purchasing the first coin for 250 War Resources and the second coin for 2000 gold; this will ultimately save you gold due to the second coin doubling in price. However, if you don’t have the War Resources, then purchase the two coins with gold; this will set you back 7000 gold in total.

You do have the option of using Mark of Honor, but these could be spent elsewhere, but ultimately, that’s your decision.

Horde Players:

Visit the Master of Fate, Zurvan, within The Maelstrom Mercantile of Dazar’alor. Coordinates [54.87].

Alliance Players:

You can find the Master of Fate, Tezran, within Snug Harbor Inn of Boralus. Coordinates [71.13].

A Time To Reflect:

There is also a daily quest on offer, from Historian Llore, called A Time to Reflect. Answer an easy question regarding the lore of World of Warcraft, and in return, you’ll receive 5 Timewarped Badges.

Gold-Making:

There’s not a great deal that can be made gold-making-wise during the event. But as mentioned above, if you can obtain as many Timewarped Badges as you can, when other Timewalking events are available, you can purchase Bind on Account Reputation Commendations.

Many recipes are locked behind reputation requirements, such as the panthers from the Order of the Cloud Serpent. This method is more straightforward with Order of the Cloud Serpent Commendations during the Mists of Pandaria Timewalking Event.

Conclusion:

If you’re new to World of Warcraft or struggling to get that character to level 60, now is the time to get started. With Blizzard introducing their overpriced level 60 boost within the shop, trying to entice players to skip leveling, this anniversary event is an excellent alternative!

With classic world bosses and a weekly quest on offer, there’s plenty of opportunities to gear your main or your alts. Level 60’s can earn ilvl 226 items, whereas players level 30 and above will obtain gear appropriate to their level; thanks to the scaling system.

If you would like further clarification on what is on offer over the next three weeks, please do head on over to our trusted friends at Wowhead for their guide on WoW’s 17th Anniversary Event.

Alternatively, for a comprehensive guide on the Cataclysm Timewalking Event, check out our trusted friends at Wowhead.

Unobtainable Classic Recipes Are Back:

As mentioned in a previous blog post of mine here, Blizzard has reintroduced nine classic recipes that were unobtainable due to the expansion, Cataclysm. These recipes were unobtainable, due to the removal of specific mobs, quests in Cataclysm. Thanks to Timewalking, we can now purchase these and will cost you 1500 Timewarped Badges each.

Find the vendor Kiatke within Stormwind [76.17] or Orgrimmar [52.41] to purchase them.

Vendor - Kiatke

The Recipes:

Alchemy:
Cooking:
Engineering:
Tailoring:
Leatherworking:

You’ll notice the only recipe to be concerned about, is the Tailoring recipe, Pattern: Robe of Winter Night. This recipe is a Bind on Pickup, so cannot be placed on the Auction House. The others can. Please take extra caution when purchasing these recipes.

Restrictions:

You must meet the level requirement of level 35 or above to view the items available from Kiatke. You cannot bypass this requirement, by participating in Chromie Time and opting to level within Cataclysm.

In order for you to participate in Cataclysm Timewalking Dungeons, you will also need to meet the level 50 or above requirement!
