BoE Tailoring Recipes

Buying and selling recipes for gold-making

Tailoring Recipes:

Welcome to my comprehensive list of BoE Tailoring Recipes. I have categorized the recipes into two categories, Obtainable and Unobtainable. The Obtainable recipes are those that still drop from mobs. The Unobtainable lists recipes that no longer have a source, or more importantly, are available from a profession trainer instead. I collected this data using Wowhead.

I’ve sorted the lists alphabetically, and the drop rate added is the highest percentage available. However, it’s essential to understand that the difficult to obtain recipes should hold the most significant value. Check The Undermine Journal (TUJ) for the recipe’s valuation.

I’ve also added helpful links to Wowhead if you’d wish to view the recipe(s) in greater detail.

Obtainable:

I’ve compiled a list of 89 BoE Tailoring Recipes that are still obtainable in-game from killing mobs. Ignore the Buyout Price in the Quick Facts box on Wowhead, as these prices are incorrect. Instead, check The Undermine Journal (TUJ) for a precise valuation.

Unobtainable:

There are 25 BoE Tailoring Recipes in this category, which I’ve separated into two parts. Purchase and Don’t Purchase. Unavailable recipes found in-game that have no source, or alternative method, should be Purchased.

However, unavailable recipes that you can learn from a Profession Trainer, or purchase from the Time-Lost Trader, Do not Purchase these from the Auction House under any circumstance! These recipes have no value whatsoever! Therefore, I have also added these recipes to my TSM to prevent accidentally purchasing them. Make sure you remove all purchase operations for this category!

Purchase:

Do Not Purchase:

Can be learned via a Profession Trainer:
The alternative recipe is available via Time-Lost Trader:
Alternative Recipe Available:

Smart Loot:

6 BoE Tailoring Recipes in this category should be carefully considered before purchasing. These recipes have a greater drop rate than shown on Wowhead. This is because players that have the Tailoring Profession and don’t currently have the recipe, have a greater chance of looting these recipes.

Lumberjack Shirts:
Workman’s Shirts:

Recipes via Quest Rewards:

3 BoE Tailoring Recipes are available from handing in Encrypted Twilight Text. With the text extremely cheap, it’s easy to farm these recipes. Consider the prices of these recipes before purchasing.

Faction Specific Recipes:

Take extra care when purchasing these 8 BoE Tailoring Recipes, as they’re faction-specific.

Buying and Selling Your Recipes:

When valuing your BoE Tailoring recipe(s), I advise you to use The Undermine Journal (TUJ) and check the prices based on your realm. If you’d prefer an average price based on the region, I’d recommend using the EU or NA Median Price.

Pastebin:

I have taken the liberty of adding a Pastebin, which holds a TSM Group with the BoE Tailoring Recipes. I’ve separated the subgroups as outlined above, and where possible, categorized them by their drop chance. Please remember that I do not add operations to my TSM groups to prevent any potential issues; default operations will automatically be assigned once imported successfully.

Feel free to make any adjustments you wish, but please make sure you backup your profile before importing and making any changes.

Finally, I remind you that I’m currently restructuring my whole TSM Recipe Groups and plan to share this once completed.

Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender Transmog.

What is Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender Transmog?

If you played World of Warcraft during Mists of Pandaria (MoP), you would be familiar with this crafted gear from Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, and Tailoring. These items were called Crafted Malevolent, Crafted Dreadful, and Contender’s gear. During MoP, these crafts were very valuable, thanks to PvP content and their bonus sets. Even to this day, they still hold a reasonable valuation and offer me a steady income.

How Do We Obtain These Recipes?

Leatherworking has the best return when operating in this market, as it crafts both Leather and Mail items. However, it comes at a price, as you’ll need to learn more recipes than the other two professions. The Malevolent and Dreadful recipes are locked behind a specific craft that has a daily cooldown; meaning you need to craft an epic material to discover a new recipe for your profession. Below is a summary of the crafts necessary for each profession.

Craft needed to discover a new Crafted Dreadful recipe. (Daily Cooldown)

Craft needed to discover a new Crafted Malevolent recipe. (Daily Cooldown)

Please don’t confuse Hardened Magnificent Hide, Balanced Trillium Ingot, and Celestial Cloth with Accelerated Hardened Magnificent Hide, Accelerated Balanced Trillium Ingot, and Accelerated Celestial Cloth. The accelerated versions have no cooldowns and don’t discover any new recipes.

Contender Recipes from Vendors

Each profession has its dedicated vendors that sell Contender’s recipe; this will cost you 1x Spirit of Harmony from the following vendors.

Crafting Your Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender Transmog!

Once you’ve learned your recipes, start crafting your gear. The materials needed to craft the items are straightforward and easy to acquire, either from farming or purchasing from the Auction House. I urge you to check TheUndermineJournal (TUJ); this will give you an idea of your materials and crafts’ value and ultimately help you decide whether it’s beneficial to farm or purchase your materials.

Material shopping list (RMA = Region Market Avg from TUJ)

Remember you can craft Magnificent Hide from 50x Exotic Leather, Ghost Iron Bar from 2x Ghost Iron Ore, and Bolt of Windwool Cloth from 5x Windwool Cloth; by crafting our own materials, we improve our profit margins. These crafts do not have a cooldown!

The Benefits of Malevolent, Dreadful, and Contender Transmog:

What makes this gear valuable is the transmog aspect; they have some excellent skins. With the introduction of Shadowlands and the Relic of the Past, this gear can help players level efficiently. The relic can manipulate the item’s ilvl and level requirement, meaning this has some value for lower-level players. The bonus for equipping 2 or 4 pieces may be beneficial.

Update – The Mage Tower:

Following the release of the new World Event: Legion Timewalking and the reintroduction of the Mage Tower, Crafted Dreadful Gladiator’s gear is in high demand. When these items are applied with either a Relic IV or Relic V, they scale extremely well, due to the gem sockets and enchants that can be applied.

As with the increase in the value of these crafts, you’ll notice that the materials are in high demand too; and have tripled in value on some realms. If you’re able to farm materials during this event, I’d suggest checking out my new blog post, covering the materials needed during the World Event: Legion Timewalking and the Mage Tower.

Also, check out my other blog post for more information regarding other crafts that are selling during this event!

Uncanny Gear (Tailoring)

With a couple of weeks until the release of Shadowlands Pre-patch, I thought it would be a great time to quickly jump back on the crafting bandwagon and give you some tips for crafting Uncanny gear via the profession: Tailoring.

With the expansion almost at an end, don’t be put off thinking the Uncanny gear isn’t worthwhile anymore, as you’d be wrong! It’s still selling extremely well, and with a couple of things to consider (outlined below), we can profit from players quickly levelling alts ready for the pre-patch.

Important: Make sure you have rank 3 recipes learned.

It’s imperative that you have rank 3 on all the Uncanny recipes it prevents us from losing gold in the long run. It will also reduce the amount of Expulsom required to craft an item. Expulsom is a problematic material to acquire and is necessary for every Uncanny craft and the best way to gather this is following Samadan’s bracer shuffle method. Please follow his directions precisely. Once we’ve collected all our Expulsom from scrapping the bracers, we can start to craft our Uncanny items.

It’s best to craft every item, so be sure to craft as many of each as you can. I have a minimum of 10 of each item posted on the Auction House. The reason being is my TSM has Ignore Variation unticked. The benefit to this is that we make sure we get the best value for the items with the best stats. If we have Ignore Variation ticked TSM will post all of our gear on the Auction House below the cheapest item, regardless of its stats, and we stand to lose gold on our best items. So be sure to untick Ignore Variation for the best results!

It’s worth bearing in mind, that once Shadowlands has released and dependant on scaling (due to level squish), Uncanny Gear shouldn’t be important, other than for the benefit of Transmog and only then, would I consider ticking the Ignore Variation. Stats won’t matter if someone is purchasing your gear purely for Transmog purposes. Remember to adapt as the game transitions to stay one step ahead of your competition.

Uncanny Armor

With the Auction House throttle activated when you cancel auctions to repost, I’d recommend posting your Uncanny Gear at 12-hour or 24-hour intervals. This gives you the freedom to post more often without getting throttled. Many of my competitors post at 48-hours, so as long as I log in when my items expire, I can repost successfully, keeping my auctions at the cheapest.

I hope you enjoyed this post if you have any feedback, please use the comment section below or use the contact method on the right-hand sidebar via my email address. I will reply at the earliest convenience.

Warlords of Draenor BiS Stage Gear

*** This Guide is now out of date, please do not use this, as the stats for all classes have now been changed in (7.0) Pre-Patch Legion. ***

Good morning guys, as promised in my previous post, here’s my Warlords of Draenor BiS Stage Gear – TSM3 Import Strings for Blacksmithing, Tailoring and Leatherworking. I currently don’t deal in Engineering weapons, Jewelcrafting rings and necklaces and Inscription weapons/trinkets due to them over flooded on my auction house, so these strings haven’t been added/created. However they could be created in the future if enough people want them.

May I first take this opportunity to first credit Sheyrah, to whom posted an incredible amount of information and uploaded the basic list to her pastebin. If it wasn’t for this, this would have taken a lot longer to create and manage. So thank you for sharing Sheyrah. If anyone has any aspirations in becoming a very good gold goblin, please do give Sheyrah and her partner Xionik a follow via their links below and check them out. They’re extremely good at what they do and boast to have earned well over 100 million gold.

To reassure you all on how I managed to make this accurate list, I used a website called Ask Mr. Robot to find out the best in slot (BiS) stats for any given class and spec. Once I had the stats noted down, I then went through Sheyrah’s list and carefully split up the BiS gear from the gear with random stats. Once this was complete, I then split the BiS gear up into their separate Stages from 1-6. Now when I hover over a crafted item, I can see whether or not it is of any value, thanks to my TSM tooltip set up.

Demand is extremely high at the moment, with no new content currently available and people are creating and levelling alts. This means high demand for crafted stage gear as it can be worn from level 90 to 100 and can be upgraded to a maximum Stage 6 – ilvl 705 (Weapon) or 715 (Armour) . I currently only upgrade to stage 4, to limit my expenses and make the most profit. This of course differs from your servers economy and what tactics you’d prefer to take.

Ideally, to make the most profit, it would be best to craft the items yourself, but this is time consuming and depends highly on the materials you have at your disposal. However, don’t be put off from making a decent return and buying the materials straight off the auction house. The tactic I use myself is a bit of both. The only thing I craft is the essences at the armour or weapons can be bought cheap.

Example:

Bought:
1x Supple Vest of the Deft (stage 1) – 1k
3x Burnished Essence – 5k (3k if I craft them myself)

Total – 6k (4k)

Sold:
1x Supple Vest of the Deft (Stage 4)  9-15k

If you find any issues with this guide or want to add any feedback, please do drop a line below. If i do get enough interest I will invest some time to create those remaining strings. Currently I don’t need them myself, but would be happy to help others if they require them!

Again, please remember to give Sheyrah & Xionik a follow, their details can be found above and I can guarantee you wont regret it!

Thanks for reading guys and hope you found this guide a great help, feel free to post your sales in comment below or on my Social Media platforms!
