Hallow's End

World Event: Hallows End

Hallows End is a World Event within World of Warcraft that celebrates  Halloween; during the festivities, you will experience a Halloween-style celebration with plenty of fun and mischief. Notable activities include Candy Buckets, Daily Quests, and a revamped version of the Dungeon encounter: The Headless Horseman.

Hallows End:

Hallows End begins on the 18th of October, 2023, at 10 a.m. and lasts two weeks. The event ends on the 1st of November, otherwise known as The Day of the Dead.

Tricky Treats:

Tricky Treats are the currency awarded for completing activities during Hallows End. You can purchase goods from the Hallows End vendors in your Factions city. I recommend buying uncollected Transmog and Toys first, then with the remainder of the Tricky Treats, buy Companion Pets to be sold at the Auction House.

Horde – Undercity:
Woim (Companion Pets)

Alliance – Stormwind City:
Pippi (Companion Pets)

Candy Buckets:

Throughout Azeroth are Candy Buckets located within selected Inns. Loot the Candy Bucket to receive some Tricky Treats. What makes this task appealing is you can use flight points to travel to each Inn and passively collect Tricky Treats (experience if you’re below level 70) while doing other things.

For an excellent guide outlining the location of all the Candy Buckets, check out my Candy Bucket guide! There’s also merit in downloading the Addons below.

The Headless Horseman (Dungeon):

In 2023, The Headless Horseman has had a considerable revamp. The encounter now has an optional Hard Mode, and you’ll notice many changes to his abilities. We no longer have to suffer the ordeal of chasing his head every time you defeat him; instead, once you defeat him, he’s dead!

New abilities include Pumpkin Breath, don’t stand near this AoE ability. Vine March will summon Pumpkin Soldiers that you must kill quickly. Insidious Cackle drops a purple ring around each person in the party; avoid standing close together to prevent being feared! Lastly, Hot Head, the Headless Horseman, will throw a Hot Head to a random player – GET OUT OF THE FIRE!

If you’re bold, you can add a little spice to the encounter by activating Hard Mode. You will notice the Wicker Man of Embers on the left-hand side as you enter the Dungeon. Each Wicker Man has a curse that adds another ability to each of the abovementioned abilities. Activating all four curses will activate Hard Mode. Successfully defeating the Headless Horseman with Hard Mode will reward you with an achievement: Kickin’ with the Wick.

Loot from the encounter has an ilvl of 402 with the option to upgrade via the new upgrade system in Dragonflight. There’s also a suggestion of an increased drop chance for the mount: Headless Horseman – good news for those who still don’t have it!

Companion Pets:

Four Companion Pets are available: Feline Familiar, Cursed Birman, Widget the Departed, and Naxxy. Each Companion Pet costs 150 Tricky Treats; however, they hold different values at the Auction House.

Do not spend Tricky Treats on acquiring Sinister Squashlings; this Companion Pet is easily obtainable and does not hold much value at the Auction House.

Using the Oribos Exchange, we can check each pet’s Median price for its Region. For an exact price for each pet (by Realm), input your Realm. For the benefit of the wider audience, I’ve listed the value in Median for both U.S. and E.U. Regions. The values below reflect a low supply; expect these values to reduce as the supply increases!

Companion Pet Tricky Treats U.S (Median) E.U (Median)
Feline Familiar 150 Tricky Treats 100000g 168073g
Cursed Birman 150 Tricky Treats 228011g 84999g
Widget the Departed 150 Tricky Treats 56000g 78225g
Naxxy 150 Tricky Treats 81250g 77499g
