Dream Shard Shuffle:
If you need an easy method to obtain Dream Shards, look no further. Today I’ll explain a cheeky little Dream Shard shuffle I use to craft Northrend Enchants, level Northrend Enchanting on alts, or sell the Dream Shard(s) on the Auction House for a profit.
As with most shuffles, avoid exploiting, so I suggest not going gung-ho! Only purchase and disenchant what you deem is a fair amount.
However, I’d argue that because I’ve successfully done this for some time now, and I haven’t been warned or suspended, or the shuffle is still achievable, it may mean that Blizzard doesn’t mind. After all, if they deemed this exploiting, they could readjust the gold value for the gauntlets, similar to what they did with vendor materials in Battle for Azeroth and Shadowlands.
Limitations and Restrictions:
Sadly, as this content is from WotLK, there are some limitations you need to be aware of. New Hero classes released after the WotLK expansion will not work, as the armor pieces we’re purchasing are class-specific. So if you have one of the classes below, I’m afraid this won’t work for you.
Hero Classes:
- Monk
- Demon Hunter
- Dracthyr Evoker (Hero Class coming in Dragonflight)
Benefits to Consider:
It’s not essential, but if you have a Blood Elf, you have the racial ability Arcane Affinity. Your Enchanting skill is increased by 10.
Getting Started:
To get started, use the portal from your Factions major city (Stormwind or Orgrimmar), travel to Dalaran (Northrend), and visit the Enchanting profession trainer (if you don’t have the profession). You can find the trainer at the Enchanting building, coordinates: [40.41].
Speak to the trainer, and learn Northrend Enchanting. Now you can head over to the vendors.
The Vendors:
Horde players seek out the vendor, Magistrix Lambriesse, beside the Auctioneer in Sunreaver’s Sanctuary, Dalaran, at coordinates [65.22].
Alliance players head to the vendor, Arcanist Ivrenne, situated beside the Auctioneer within The Silver Enclave at coordinates [37.55].
Items of Interest:
The items we’re interested in are the Savage Gladiator’s Gauntlets. If you’re accessing the vendor on a class that wasn’t available during WotLK, you will not see these items. Depending on the amount of gold you have and the space in your bags, purchase the gauntlets. Once you’ve collected a sufficient amount, leave the vendor.
Hint: To make this step easier, consider using the add-on BuyEmAll. With this add-on, we can shift+right click and buy an amount we enter in the quantity box. Alternatively, the buy max feature will purchase the amount depending on the free slots within your inventory.
I’d stick to the quantity, as the max feature may leave you without a free slot for disenchanting.
Disenchanting Macro:
To assist you in making this part of the shuffle less tedious, we’ll create a one-button macro, which will effortlessly disenchant the gauntlets. Add the macro to your action bar (preferably action button 1).
Alternatively, you can use the destroy feature if you’re using TSM or Elvui/Tukui.
Important, as each class has different gauntlets available, may I take this opportunity to remind you to edit the name of the item within the macro to the one that is suitable to your class. My Death Knight uses the Savage Gladiator’s ‘Dreadplate’ Gauntlets, so edit out Dreadplate and replace it with the name of your gauntlets.
Macro:
#showtooltip Disenchant
/cast Disenchant
/use Savage Gladiator’s Dreadplate Gauntlets
Disenchanting:
The excellent part here is that if you’ve begun your journey with Enchanting, we’ll get 25 (35 if you’re a Blood Elf) easy skill points just from disenchanting. The Dream Shards we get will assist in future recipes, crafting Enchants to use or sell, or selling the materials at the Auction House.
Feel free to watch a YouTube video or a Netflix program while you disenchant them with your one-button macro.
Materials:
Depending on the number of pieces you bought, you should now have a nice stack of Dream Shards. As I mentioned, you can craft enchants with these or purchase recipes locked behind a vendor. Alternatively, sell these at the Auction House. The average value for a Dream Shard on the E.U Region is 34g each; anywhere near the 25g mark sale isn’t too shabby!
Not a bad return considering we paid just over 4g* for the gauntlets.
(*) Due to different gauntlets available, you may pay slightly more or less than me. I used a Death Knight, as plate items are usually more expensive.
