The End of The Undermine Journal

The Undermine Journal Closing Down

The End of The Undermine Journal:

Sadly, news has started circulating on social media that as of May 1st, 2023, the website: The Undermine Journal will cease to operate. I’ve known about this since Feb 19th, thanks to Erorus’ newsletter on his Patreon.

Undermine Exchange:

Welcome to today’s blog post, where I’ll update you on a new addition to The Undermine Journal and its potential successor, the Undermine Exchange.

If you have the Addon: The Undermine Journal (TUJ) installed, you must know that this is obsolete and will no longer receive updates. If you use this Addon in-game for pricing data, act now and uninstall it to limit any potential issues!

Add-on: Point Blank Sniper

Add-on: Point Blank Sniper

Point Blank Sniper:

Welcome to today’s blog post. Today I’ll discuss the benefits of a new Add-on by plusmouse called Point Blank Sniper. This Add-on was brought to my attention by Vahdis on Twitter. It’s a very lightweight Add-on, requiring some additional Add-ons to work.

The premise is that by importing Shopping Lists into the Shopping tab, we can use Point Blank Sniper to snipe Auctions within that Shopping List that other players may post incorrectly.

CurseForge Standalone Client

Overwolf’s Acquisition of CurseForge (Twitch) in 2020:

Back in 2020, Overwolf completed the acquisition of CurseForge, an add-on management tool within Amazon’s gaming platform, Twitch. The news had dismayed many of the player base, aware of Overwolf’s history of malware, bloatware, and intrusive ads.

However, Overwolf planned to depreciate the Twitch API, preventing third-party add-on management apps from accessing the API!

The Depreciation of the Twitch API:

Over the last couple of days, Overwolf has completed the depreciation of the original Twitch API. These changes will impact third-party add-on managers (i.e. WoWUp).

As you’re likely aware, I moved to WoWUp myself, following Overwolf’s purchase for reasons I’ve explained above.

Third-party Add-on Managers unable to use CurseForge API:

But if you’ve visited any third-party add-on manager in the last couple of days, you’d have been greeted by a warning message informing you of the restrictions with a statement like this image below.

WoWUp Changes

With CurseForge’s new restrictions, you’ll have to find any updates to your add-ons via alternative means. If you wish to stay with your third-party add-on manager, rescan your library to find any available updates.

CurseForge Standalone Client (Alpha):

However, if you’re in the same position as me and were put off by Overwolf, let me reassure you that they have introduced a standalone CurseForge Client!

Click the link: CurseForge Standalone Client for a direct link to download the application. Overwolf was kind enough to make the download page misleading, as Wowhead mentioned yesterday!

The transition is effortless, and the app automatically finds your World of Warcraft folder. It’s just a case of updating your add-ons and logging in to the game!

Before Installing:

The installation will crash if you have WoWUp or any other third-party add-on management app running when trying to install CurseForge! I recommend closing and uninstalling any third-party add-on management apps before starting.

CurseForge Client Alpha:

The standalone client is currently at the Alpha stage, so there will be a lot of developments over the next couple of months, and the standalone client, only has mods for World of Warcraft, but this will improve.

Once you’ve downloaded and installed the Standalone CurseForge Client, you’ll notice it’s very similar to WoWUp. There’s a small box to the bottom right for ads, and to be fair, this isn’t very intrusive. Remember, this gives 70% ad revenue to the authors of the mods.

TradeSkillMaster 4.11 Beta

TradeSkillMaster Logo

TradeSkillMaster 4.11 Beta:

On the 13th of June, TradeSkillMaster (TSM) released its new beta version, 4.11. If you’re a premium member, be sure to check your email for your invite. For those interested in signing up, check the information below regarding early beta access.

TradeSkillMaster (TSM)

Suppose you’re a World of Warcraft player that enjoys playing the Auction House (a gold-maker). In that case, TradeSkillMaster (TSM) is, without a doubt, an essential addon for you.

Setting up TSM correctly; creating your groups and operations precisely means gold-making can become an effortless and efficient task.

I’ve been a user of TSM since midway through Cataclysm, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed everything the Addon has to offer. However, I’ve experienced other Auction House Addons like Auctioneer and Auctionator. Unfortunately, neither of them comes close to what TSM offers.

TSM Profiles:

Many players are put off by TSM, as it needs much work at the beginning to get TSM working at its best. However, it’s never been a better time to get involved with the ability to import other player’s profiles.

Please only use profiles or import strings from trusted sources and always backup your original profile before making any changes!

If the thought of setting up TSM is daunting, please do consider checking out BilisOnyxia, who has a complete TSM Profile available on his Patreon. His TSM Profile is perfect for all new and experienced players.

BilisOnyxia is a highly regarded member within r/woweconomy (the World of Warcraft Economy Subreddit) and has a vast knowledge of developing TSM groups and operations.

My TSM Import Strings:

I do have TSM Import Strings that may be of interest to you. These are continuously updated and are available from my Pastebin. These are not as complete as BilisOnyxia’s TSM Profile, but these are an alternative option for you.

Please remember to backup your TSM Profile before importing or making any changes to TSM!

TSM Premium:

As soon as TSM introduced a premium membership, I immediately signed up. Being a premium member was an excellent opportunity for me to give something back to Sapu and his development team. Not only does my membership help future developments, but I also get other perks, including automatic backups and early beta access.

Early Beta Access:

An added benefit of signing up to premium is early access to TSM beta invites. Five days ago, I received my invite and now look forward to checking out TSM 4.11 beta and its new improvements. So, if you’re a premium member, check your email linked to your account to find out how to get started with TSM 4.11.

For players that don’t have a premium membership, you can sign up for beta access via TSM’s beta sign-up page.  Invites are strictly on a first-in-first-out system.

What’s New in TSM 4.11 beta?

For a full run-down of all the new functions and improvements coming in TSM 4.11, check out the TradeSkillMaster blog for a full detailed explanation of all their latest additions.

Want TSM 4.11 beta Without The Queue?

If you’re not a TSM premium member and don’t want to queue for early access to TSM 4.11 beta, it’s not too late to sign up for TSM Premium. So sign up today and get early access to TSM 4.11 beta.

Want To Help Make TSM Better?

If you receive access to TSM beta, always participate and offer feedback via error messages that you may receive/experience. Doing this will help developers fix bugs and errors, ultimately ironing out any potential issues before release.

Alternatively, check out TSM’s Discord channel to report any bugs or issues that you may encounter.

Disclaimer:

TSM has not sponsored or endorsed this post, neither am I an affiliate. Instead, the blog post explains my experiences with TSM and the value of the Addon if you enjoy gold-making. Although TSM is accessible to everyone for free, signing up for TSM premium will offer you extra perks, including guaranteed early beta access.

BilisOnyxia has not approached me to advertise his Patreon; I merely added this within my blog, as I believe it’s the best TSM Profile available!

The Undermine Journal

Erorus' Guides to The Undermine Journal

The Undermine Journal:

The Undermine Journal (TUJ) is, without doubt, one of the most crucial websites/add-on resources for gold-making in World of Warcraft. Using TUJ website, add-on, and TSM together and knowing how to use them efficiently will maximize your gold-making potential.

Within all my gold-making articles, I always express the need to access TUJ website so readers that consider following my advice (incorporating my markets into theirs) can get up-to-date auction house data for their region and realm. Having this information to hand before getting into a market is the difference between knowing you’ll make a profit or record a loss.

The article today will hopefully give my readers (that are unfamiliar) a better understanding of The Undermine Journal website and add-on.

What is The Undermine Journal (Website):

The Undermine Journal (alternatively known as TUJ) is a website that offers auction house data for the specified Region/Realm you require in World of Warcraft. TUJ acquires this data via snapshots from Blizzard’s API, which is updated every hour.

Once you’ve selected your Region/Realm, you can input any item in the search bar, and it will offer you essential auction house data for that item. With this auction house data, we can correctly value our item(s), making buying and selling as efficient as possible.

What is The Undermine Journal (Addon):

The Undermine Journal in-game add-on shows realm-specific pricing in tooltips for all items and battle pets on all US, EU, and KR realms. Data includes:

  • Average market price for your realm over the past 3 days
  • Average market price for your realm over the past 14 days
  • Standard deviation of market price for your realm over the past 14 days
  • Number of days since the item was last seen on your AH
  • Global median market price right now
  • Global average market price right now
  • Global standard deviation of market price right now

Prices are aware of item bonuses and pet breeds as well, so, for example, Heroic items have separate prices from Heroic Warforged, Mythic, etc.

The add-on is updated twice a week, on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Update your add-ons regularly to have the latest release available in-game

The Undermine Journal Guides:

The Author of The Undermine Journal (TUJ), Erorus, has added five Youtube guides helping players understand the statistics available from the website, and how using these statistics correctly is the difference between making gold and losing gold.

It’s difficult to believe at the time of this post; there were only 65 views! This should be a lot higher!

Use the Watch on Youtube feature within the video and be sure to like, subscribe, and add any feedback to his guides.

Disclaimer:

A portion of this article was directly from The Undermine Journal to offer precise information about the add-on. I’ve added the Youtube guides, this should not affect your view count – my intentions are to help increase it. I created this article to help promote your website, add-on and guides to new and experienced gold-makers within my blog.

TSM4.10 Guides

My Recommended TradeSkillMaster (TSM) GuidesTradeSkillMaster (TSM) is without a doubt the most powerful World of Warcraft gold-making addon to date. Without it, you’re always one step behind your competitors. Getting accustomed to TSM can seem daunting at first, but with some detailed instructions outlined by these guides below, the transition should be a lot smoother.

I don’t create TSM guides myself, but below I will add some recommendations of TSM guides that I believe will be a great asset to you. I’ve added links to their websitessocial media platforms so please drop by and leave some feedback.

I will update this post once more guides become available for TSM4.10 and later.

SamadanPlaysWoW

An excellent beginners guide, showing every aspect of TSM. Each installment posted below for ease of use. Samadan also streams on Twitch where he’s always happy to answer any questions regarding TSM that you might have.

TSM4.10 Released

On September 6th TradeSkillMaster (TSM) released their new version 4.10, and it’s better than ever. I covered some of the new features on my last post, feel free to check it out. If you haven’t downloaded TSM yet, don’t delay any further. Click the image above to get started.

With the changes to importing and exporting, I’ve recently updated my TSM Import Strings. Before importing, follow the directions precisely. Failure to do so could lead to issues. All strings have no operations to prevent any potential problems. You can easily create your own shopping and posting operations using custom strings. Once you’ve created these, apply them to each group. TSM does have default price sources, but if you want to make your own and unsure how to, check out their guide, Custom Strings.

If you experience any issues after following the advice precisely, then please contact me, and I will look into the strings. Any errors concerning TSM, please contact them via the error pop-up window in-game or their Discord channel.

I’m In Awe Of TSM4 BETA

It’s been a very chaotic few weeks, so I’ve not blogged much up until today. I’m currently sorting out my new website, which will go into greater detail of my day to day activities concerning gold-making in World of Warcraft. Added to this, I recently got invited to the new TSM 4.10 BETA wave, and (to rub salt in the wounds), I inadvertently got invited to Shadowlands BETA too. I hope to have the new website up and running in the next week or so. Due to time restraints, I cannot participate in the Shadowlands BETA, but I’ve decided to take advantage of TSM’s 4.10 Beta instead, as reviewed below.

TSM4.10 BETA

Themes, Dashboard & Ledger:

TSM BETA BLOG

As soon as you’ve successfully installed and loaded up the game, the first thing you’ll notice is the new sleek look of TSM. Within the settings (Appearance), we can customize this further by changing the themes; this, in my opinion, is an excellent addition. Some of the colors appear strange, but this could be my filters within the game, as I’m colorblind. As you’ll see above, the graph is a lot easier on the eyes, and from what I’ve read up, the information obtained for the dashboard and ledger is a lot more accurate now than the previous TSM version. We can change the timeframe within the graphs, to give us a detailed look at our profit and losses.

Opinion: Excellent addition. Even with colorblindness, some of the themes are excellent. Tell me a gold-maker that doesn’t want to see graphs outlining their progress!

Groups, Operations & Search Feature:

TSM BETA BLOG 1

When creating a new group and searching for items, it’s never been easier. We can effortlessly move and adjust our groups, and the new base group gives us the ability to search for new items by inputting search conditions into the box, as I’ve highlighted above. For example purposes, I used the search function to look for Battle Pets. As you can see, this returned all the battle pets I currently don’t have assigned to a group.

Adding and adjusting operations to groups is a lot easier too. We now get a search box pop-up when adding or changing operations to a group. Instead of needlessly scrolling through all the operations, we can use the search function instead and promptly assign an operation we desire. If you head over to the operations tab, you will also see all the groups assigned to a given operation.

Opinion: As I’m sure you’re aware, I love creating groups with plenty of sub-groups, the ability to keep them up-to-date by adding new items when added to the game, will no doubt be a game-changer. The ease of doing all this will allow many to create their very own profiles!

Shopping & TSM Sniper:

Browsing the Auction House has also had some improvements. The ability to pause and purchase items during a scan, so you don’t miss out on lucrative deals now. We also have the addition to buy items in bulk. Again, as shown above, you can see on the right, we can now select buyout on items, and we’ll get a pop-up that allows us to buy a more significant quantity. Before TSM 4.10 this was only achievable via the wow’s default user interface.

You will also notice above that there’s a return of TSM Sniper. However, I’ve not used this myself yet! But I’m sure many will be happy with its return.

Opinion: For me, the most significant change was the ability to finally buy bulk quantities of items, without unnecessarily needing to use the wow ui instead. Others will undoubtedly rejoice at the return of sniper, and understandably so.

Change Log & Sources Explained

For a detailed summary of the changes with TSM 4.10 BETA please check out TSM’s change log.

With the addition of new price sources and the removal of (Use Smart Average), I urge anyone to check out TSM’s price source guides below. These will help you understand and maybe create your own price sources. Creating your own price sources will give you the edge on your competitors when posting your auctions on to the Auction House.

New complete Battle Pet Import String

Before I leave, I’d like to add, that the battle pet import string created/shared by @Billisonyxia on Twitter, has been updated by myself, by removing the non-existent common and uncommon battle pets within his list. I used warcraftpets to cross-reference the pets that weren’t obtainable. I have added this complete list to my Pastebin. Please can you show your support to Bilis, by checking out the links below to show your appreciation for the original content!

Credit: BilisOnyxia
Original Import String: Reddit Post
BilisOnyxia’s Patreon

The update has every battle pet, sorted by;

  1. Rare
  2. Uncommon
  3. Common
  4. Grey (Ignored Variation) (Ignores level, breed & rarity)

Important: Please read first!

If you want to buy and sell pets based on their level and rarity, DO NOT assign operations to option 4: Grey (Ignored Variation) group. Instead, apply your operations to options 1, 2, 3.

If you have absolutely no interest in the pets level or rarity and want to flip it, assign operations to option 4: Grey (Ignored Variation) group and DO NOT apply operations to the first 3 options. Failure to follow these steps will incur issues when shopping and posting pets on the Auction House.

Further Clarification:
Option 4: These are the default pet item ID’s that will ignore level, breed, and rarity.

Please back-up your current profile before importing, in case of any issues. I have successfully imported this, with no issues. However, if you do experience any issues, or you would like to offer some feedback, please feel free to contact me: grahranswowgold@gmail.com and I will respond at the earliest convenience.

I hope you enjoyed this post. With any luck, you’ll hear from me again within the week, promoting my new website.

Darkmoon Trinket Buff! 20/08/18

Just in case you’ve missed it, there’s been a recent hotfix to Darkmoon trinkets, increasing their stats. This will make some of these, POSSIBLY BiS before raid content arrives. Now you probably won’t think too much of this, but consider the people who cashed in on all this, last night, when this was first revealed!

There were Darkmoon Deck: Squalls selling at 38k on my realm, Darkmoon Deck: blockades at 64.9k, now they’ve shot up to 150k+ and raising! Some will probably settle around that area, but this all depends on the competition on your realm. I’ve bought some this afternoon at approximately 70k and reselling at 199k. I may have missed out on the big boom when the expansion released, due to levelling, but this is a decent little earner in the meantime.

So if you have some gold handy, check your auction houses and see if there’s some value for you. I’ve bought up a ton this morning/afternoon, so there’s still bargains to be had! As ever, be vigilant and to make the most out of your profit, use trade chat to bark what you’re selling, eliminates that AH fee 😉

Always check out trusted sites like The Undermine Journal which you can keep track on the realm/region prices etc for any given item on any given realm. Some prices may still have yesterdays data, so won’t come in to effect, so take that in mind.

Here’s a screenshot of the hotfix.
